MACKTRUCKS4 Posted May 1, 2011 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Moved a machine today and I noticed on a long hill running 70 mph, water temp went to 195, boost was at 35 pds. pyrometer was at 700, and I looked over at the oil temp. and was pushing 250!!!!!!!!!!! I suspect the oil cooler. I want to know if you pull it apart, can you clean them and do you have to replace it. I never had to change one for this reason, just when one would spring a leak and fill the radiator with oil ( what fun to clean). Is there any other reason for high oil temp with no other problems? I'm running Rotella 15/40, same as I've always run, and the oil was just changed about 500 miles ago. I don't think it could be the sending unit or gauge because when you let it idle for about 15 minutes while I loaded the machine, temp. went down to where it should be.
