Interesting note about the RTS designer, still many of them on the road today. Mind boggling to think they could have been wearing a Mack nameplate if things had been different.

I work for Casella in Plattsburgh NY we have a fleet of Mack roll offs and 2 Mack cabover ASL trucks. I am blessed with driving a 2013 International ASL... "Gertrude" I'll try and get some snaps tomorrow after the route for interested parties.

DailyDiesel,I believe there was more to that story about the scrap trailer that nobody knows. it was loaded at the scrapyard and they pounded the load down repeatitly with the grapple to get more in and compact the load.. some say they cracked the fifth wheel by doin this and that is why it came unhooked, killing a family on 81. I know back in the 60's my grandfather hated Holland fifth wheels for this reason, had more than one crack down the center and the trailer come unhooked

At least that helps to explain the situation other than a case of bad luck and non preventable equipment failure. Tragic no matter the reason.

Scary stuff Mark. Up here an entire family was killed when a fifth wheel failed sending a fully loaded scrap trailer on to their van. It was a tragic and freak accident unlike this guy who is just begging to kill someone.

Totally agree with you Red Horse. There are many buyers who need a "large" truck but don't want to pay large truck prices. Money talks.
