  1. Once you get the truck I think you will be glad you did. I wanted one for years and kept putting it off. Looking back wish I had done it sooner. I have a B 61 tractor with no practical use for. It is fun to just drive around in. I have taken it to a few car shows and it draws more attention than a lot of cars and pickups costing a lot more. Young boys come by just love to climb in and play with gear shifts and steering wheel. I think the truck you  are looking at will be more trouble free than something used but newer.

  2. I am no expert either but I went with 6" on my 40 x 60 shop. No dump trucks but some large farm tractors and backhoes no cracks yet. I used some  wire mesh that I had in the middle. Went with fiber in the concrete. I do not remember the rating on the mix. Pour it as dry as you can and stay off it for as long as you can..

  3. Somehow I lost the the original post on hard shifting.  Thanks to all who answered. The truck is a F 797 tractor with the fifth wheel missing. It will slide the tandems on dirt or gravel.  Plan to install a fifth wheel and thanks to 41 Chev. download the manual & change the fluid. Still working on the title transfer has a Montana title and a Washington state bill of sale. This  does not work in New Mexico.

  4. Nice work. I had an Ingersol Rand compressor on trailer. The compressor worked fine but the continental engine was worn out. I located the same engine at a swap meet in Iowa. The engine was rebuilt by Valley Engine Rebuilders in Cin, OH with all the paperwork and a tag riveted on the block. The price was right and I thought I really lucked out on this. Installed the engine put antifreeze in it started it up and saw antifreeze on the floor. There was a freeze crack in the rear of the block. At this point gave up and sold every thing.

  5. Two lines in front of the tandems. The one with the cap has no air with cap removed. The other has air with the switch in the cab. Both gauges read the same. The holes in the frame must have been for mounting the lift axle . Now I know more than I did. Have been working to get the cab to lift . The latches open but the cab only goes about an inch. Thanks for the help.

  6. Thanks all. I got almost 80 pages of build sheets from the Mack Museum. Hendrickson  RT 440 suspension  Eaton 44 RTC two speed tandem axles with no mention of a lift axle. Someone must have added a lift axle. Maybe the military. I thought it would have been ordered that way. There is a switch in the cab for a Holland fifth wheel. I think JoheH is correct on the air gauge for the brakes. The wires going to thru the backing plates is still a question.

  7. Allison auto HT750 DRD  Eaton 44DTC front rear  Eaton 44RTC  rear. Hendrickson RT440 54" Bogie axle spacing.Electric over air shift unit for two speed tandem axle 5.29/ 7.21 Ratio. 182 " WB with 267" platform with pintle  hook. Garrison power steering.Temp gauges for rear axles and trans. Engine ENT(B)866.145,000# CGVR . yet somewhere in the specs it is stated the rears were not rated for this much. 14/80x 20 18 ply front and 11x 20 16 ply rear.Has switch in the cab for a Hendrickson  fifth wheel which is missing and pages of other items which I am not sure about . With the long platform and fifth  wheel over the tandems not sure how the trailer would work. The two speed axle  concerns me what if one shifts and one does not.

  8. Received information from the Mack Museum today Almost 80 pages of build sheets. Sold to ATAC, Warren, Michigan Government Sales ordered 4/19/77 . The sheets show the S/N  of 1426 thru 1429 four must have been built  at the same time period. A number of time stamps on the sheets show dates of 6/21/77 thru 11/23/77. Painted Gray Gloss #16187 Fed. Std. #595. Upon completion of chassis shipped to Tuff-Kote, Maxatawny , PA.for rustproofing then to Phoenix Manufacturing for installation of local options including a pusher axle whatever that is all about. 18,000# front and two speed 44,000# rears. There is a lot of information here that I have yet to decipher. The Museum really included a lot of information which I am well pleased with.

  9. I have been trying to get information on my 1977 F 797 since July. I did receive information on a 1971 F 795. Somehow the S/N numbers got screwed up. The latest attempts to contact them were not  acknowledged. In the past I get an email thanking me for my interest in Mack trucks upon requests.  I understand they are moving and a non-profit organization staffed by volunteers. Just wondering what their status is.

    .

  10. I contacted the Mack Museum to get information on my 1977 F model it has hydraulic tilt. They sent me information and a Operation Manual on a 1971 F model it had tilting instructions showing lifting the cab by hand . The change must have been between  then unless hydraulic lift was an option.
