  1. OK, let me get more specific: Let's take this picture (Thanks again Vlad!):

    cab_question1.jpg

    1) What valves hide under there? I believe that's a major brake system node

    2) Is it also a brake system component? What is it?

    3) How about this? Do any/Which of those hoses go to the dash mounted valves?

    4) Non brake related: What can you tell me about this wiring detail?

Thanks a lot in advance, any info would be a great help. additional photos heartly welcome! Have a nice day

  2. Hello!

As many of you know, I'm working on a model of a 1:24 RW Superliner. I'm about to put the cab on the frame. There's a lot of plumbing on the firewall and I'd like to show some of that in my model. Could you help me please? I I would need a photo of that firewall and some explanation where all the valves are and where the brake lines go. Any other comments on other system are of course also welcome. Unfortunately I live very, very far away from the nearest R model around :(

Thanks a lot in advance and have a nice day

  3. Hello!

Now the whole world is getting lazy. Some call it "Progress". Even the old Chinese are talling their children: "Yeah, you go to that comfy, seven day a week, 12 hours a day factory job, instead of working here on the farm like we did!"

For somebody not knowing the operation that landing gear mod looks simple, but I guess there are lots of small things to work out, before it can be widely adopted.

    Have a nice day

  4. Does USA use the metric system? Nope. But it's getting there - inch by inch :D

Once I had a really hard time to get SAE taps and dies for one project. A friend brought me a case of them from Australia.

Here in Europe we don't use anything else but metric system any more - and it's really convenient!

Good luck with your project, leversole and have a nice day everybody

  5. It reminds me of the classic lyrics: "It's a mighty rough road from Lynchburg to Danville, with line with a three mile grade"...

For the record - USA is getting all the snow that was meant for central Europe - the spring has come to us two weeks ago, way earlier than usual.

Hope you can make it through the snow and the spring time comes to you eventually, have a nice day

  6. kscarbel - your posts about truckmaking history are something special on these forums, right since you started posting. I also wanted to thank you for the interesting information you're posting. I once asked you for help on the topic of the Superliner, I sure wished you would help me on this one...

As for the Mack company, it always hurts my heart to see waste - and gutting Mack wasted many opportunities - for people to have good jobs, for truckers to have good machines to work with and so on. I read many times your writing about how it's a shame and pity - but what would be interesting is to hear your opinnion on what was the reason for what happened. Somebody sold, somebody bought and then decided to take it all apart - I would like to ask your opinion as to why? The economic theory says people are rational. By that nobody would kill a hen laying golden eggs. I look forward tou your view on that.

Once again, thanks for sharing and have a nice day

  7. Hello!

I read here on the forums, but also in a newspaper article, that the Gold Dog indicated the V-8 engine... But this related to the Superliner. Could the policy be different on different models?

About that raised hood section again - how often do you see it silver? And is it chrome or stainless steel? Isn't there a danger of sun glare this way?

Thanks in advance for the answers and have a nice day

  8. Alastair - thanks a lot for the pictures - it's not so easy fo find'em on the net, it's a great help!

I wish I could tell you when it will be done, but I can never tell when something comes around, that keeps me from building - like my company sending me on a business trip, or something. Sure thing, most of the work is done, so I'll try to finish it as soon as I can!

Thanks again for your help and have a nice day

  9. Hello Josh!

Very nice pictures! Could you help me with one thing? I'm building a scale model of a Superliner (http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/19052-mack-rw-superliner-scale-model/) and I don't really know how the Superliner hood looks from the inside. Could you post a picture showing that? I'm especially interested in how it is finished (what paint/colour). I just love that pinstriping on that first picture, by the way. Thanks in advance, have a nice day

  10. Hello!

I wonder why Mark put the treehuggers right into the conversation?? They would rather order everyone to use only bicycles. Anyhow, the story is wicked. I ride a bike every day when I go to work - saves me lots of gas money, gym money and helps the engine of my van last a lot longer, because it doesn't have to make the short trips. Less polution, traffic and so on. Like Gunny Hartman used to sing - "Good for you! Good for me!" :-)) If somebody banned it in my area, he would sure get some big minus points from me.

    Have a nice day
