  1. This is the slow transformation of my 1985 R Model tipper over the last couple of years when time permits, it started out just to make the truck a bit more presentable and roadworthy but its starting to turn into another project slowly, its a bad habit of mine

This is as far as I have got so far, I am working with the truck everyday in Adelaide doing earthmoving/bobcat work and have plans to continue repairing and painting things as I go but for know the cab was the main priority. The tipper body needs to be refitted and moved forward and i will paint that when I get a chance along with the hubs chassis tanks etc

This is the truck colour sanded and polished with the bolt on accessories starting to go back on, these trucks are very well made and are great to work on.

OK so the paint booth is about 28 degrees C and the wind/fans are at the correct speed, time to enter the driveway/booth and lay some basecoat, I layed 4 coats of the basecoat colour and let if flash off inbetween, tack ragged it between each coat to remove overpray/bugs also, now for the clear i first layed a fairly dry/sticky coat of clear letting it go off for a while as I have been told it helps for the next coat giving it something to hang on and bite to, the second coat goes down fairly wet and left to flatten out and see what finish we have, being a little high from all the paint thinners I couldn't help but go for that illusive glass finish off the gun so I layed another two coats on top of the first two in a similar fashion and was finally out of clear, I mean finished, no runs and a good finish for a driveway paint job so now I just leave it for a week or so before colour sanding and polishing it.
