As was stated previously, my main concern would be where to put the charge air cooler without making it look like a butchered up mess.
There's no room in the radiator area as it is on a b61, trying to jam a charge air cooler in there ain't gonna work.
Why not preserve it in it's original form, with the stock engine & transmission?
Just my .02.
Would the tipturbine intercooler from a E6 work on a E7 just wandering. Ron

Does anybody know a online store to buy cab sun visors? Don't have a dealership very close, and don't have time to travel a hour to see about one. They probably don't have any good prices anyway.
Barry, can you still get Lund sunvisors for the B and R models just wandering. Ron

You could also just turn in the high idle stop screw on the side of the governor housing where the throttle shaft comes out of the governor. That would raise your RPMs.
While you're at it, take off that cover at the back of the aneroid diaphragm and crank that screw in all the way. Then you'll get full fuel as soon as you hit the pedal, without waiting for the turbo to build up some boost pressure first. (You'll also get a cloud of black smoke initially, untill the turbo starts pushing enough air for a clean burn)
I had a couple of those EM7 300's around here, and without the "treatment" they were gutless.
That EM6 that i turned up had the 6 speed air shift dont know the number but it had 5.55 rears it was gutless the old 285hp with 3.87 gears would run off and leave it, Herb is that show up in Richland Center Wisconsin a good show, in the WOT it looks like alot of trucks. Thanks Ron

are there diffrent pullers for the 2V engines or are all the same. I see some ads for pullers that will work with cat, detroit, mack etc... I just want one that will work with my Engine.?
I was lucky enought to come across one of the original old style Mack injector pullers at a swapmeet in Indy last year, the guy had a $25 price on it, the part number on the paper work has this part# S-572. the price when new was $ 139.77 i bet you couldnt buy it for that now. Ron

here are some casting numbers i found on the block. maybe this will help.
PART 131000
PAT 138424
0001 00 CD
MADE IN USA
50- 3 25 63
the part number was casted same as pat. number. the last 4 digits were ground off some and 1000 was stamped in it's place.. i'll have everybody scratching there heads pretty quick. j.j.
I would say the engine was built March 25 1963, i will look at the book to see if i can find the other numbers. Ron

Can anyone help me with a motor swap problem? I just today test drove my rd 600 with a em7 mechanical motor that replaced my e6. It seems that the throttle linkage is moving fully forward on the pump but revs seem limited. On the motor plate it is rated 300 hp at 1750 rpm. Would it be governed at 1750 rpm ? And how can it be increased if that is true? Thanks All . Ray
I turned the RPM up on an 88 E6 4VH with a robert bosch pump, there is a plug on the back side of the pump under the exaust manifold you need a long straight screwdriver and a flashlight and another helper to turn the engine over at the front while you watch, take the plug out turn the engine over until you will see a sloted head there will be two half way around, push the slot down and turn clockwise 3-4 turns, you need to make sure you turn both of them the same amount of turns, put the plug back in check the RPM, the one i did i turned up to 2200-2300 to get the full RPM with a 6 speed, if you do it let me know how you progressed. Ron
-
is it a "low rpm engine" ? there were some mack engines that were set up to turn lower RPMS. I want to say 1800 or 1900 RPM was the max rpm that you could pushwith those engines. not shure if some of the E7s were one of them?

ron. had some other numbers too...AR 5732 and 1283 D. one of those might be the date code. this doesn't have a compression release either. thanks. j.j.
JJ, iwas looking through an old ( 62-72 ) truck Motors manaul it looks like the pump is a 270, the engine casting numbers in book for a NHCT 270 are 181120 or 181110, 270HP turbocharged, there should some engine block casting numbers some place, maybe on the sides. Ron
-
boweevil. found some numbers on the pump tag like you said. i'll send them to cummins and see what i've got in the ol' mutt. they are......NHCT 270 652636. i thought maybe the nhct 270 meant it was a 270 but if i remember right they had turbo's and this doesn't. will let you know. thank you and everyone else for the help. j.j.
The 270 is a 250 with a turbo, someone might have changed the pump or the turbo gave up and they changed the exaust manifold and didaway with the turbo, i saw a B61 that had a turbo and someone took the turbo housing off and put a plate over the hole, i bet it had too much fuel with out it. with out the CPL number you might have to narrow it down what everybody told you, there should be a date code on it some where. as far as compression release i had a NH 250 and the N927 didnt have one. I don't know about original frame rails from
But here is a place that makes any frame rail needed. pgadams
I know a guy that bought a wrecked Superliner and bolted a Cruiseliner front section on it, other than the length i think the Cruiseliner is the same fame.

bollweevil. are they the casted numbers i see on the block or are they stamped? i've been looking for stamped. there is some casted numbers behind the shifting linkage bracket that i'll have to take off but no big deal at all. ol' cabover has brackets everywhere.
b-61. the fuel lines are internal. no turbo. was kinda' thinking "250" but just want to be sure. as i said with the engine number cummins can give me the rundown on it. i guess even what truck it was put in to new. as i said somewhere along the line the engine and transmission were changed in this truck. thanks guys.
Cummins also made a super 250 and super 270, the 270 had a turbo they were 927 CID they have 4 rod bolts for each cylinder i put one in the 67 F model that i have a few years back. Ron
-
trying to find the cummins engine number in my G- model. the tag that goes on the aux. drive has been long gone. truck was originaly a 220 but was changed at some time and would like to know what it has now. cummins guy told my on the back of the block there should be some numbers (8) stamped but i can't find them. took a wire wheel to the block but couldn't find them. once i get the numbers they can tell me what i've got. thanks
Are the injector lines external if so it could be a 220, if there in the head without a turbo 250, with a turbo no aftercooler 270-290, with turbo, aftercooler could be 300,350,400. look on the left side of the engine see if it has BIG CAM cast on the engine. Ron
-
If they're working OK, I'd stick with wedge brakes- Continental Baking had them in the 1970s and they worked pretty well. To switch to S-Cam I think you'll need the complete brake assembly from the backing plates out, the chambers and pushrods, and some hoses. Unless the mounts are already there, you'll have to weld up something to hold the chambers in place too. Maybe it would be easier to swap in a cutoff...
I would get rid of those wedge brakes, change the spiders you will be better off, if those wedge brakes where any good there would be more on the road, find an old R-F model with the short S-cams that you ajust on top. i think B61Fred was changing his over to S-cam he might be able to tell you. Ron

Doors and fenders shouldn't be too hard to get. The rest of the sheetmetal I'd bet you'll have to fab up. Might find a decent roof, but getting one that hasn't been beat to death will be a chore.
Motors? 300 2 valve is the biggest I've heard in a B61. Plumbing and intercoolers are the hard part to get to fit under the narrow hood.
I have seen a couple of 350s one 2 valve and a 350 4 valve with intercoolers,i have a 300+ in mine with a intercooler no clearance problems, ran a hose from the tipturbine along side the interfender to the front to draw cool air, all 673 engines are the same size no mater what horsepower they are.

Re the oil filter set up. Just looked up the book and the E motor looks like it don't have an oil cooler. sorry abt the misleading. Just get the filter set up and make shure you get the right gasket. Haven't seen a E motor here in OZ. Regards Mark
I had that big oil filter on mine, you can take the parts from a 237-300 like Mc OZ said, make sure you get the right gasket, i put the wrong one in mine and the oil pressure didnt come up right away, with the spin on filters the oil pressure comes up alot faster. Ron

Try Rotella T or the MOBIL OIL' Cat 'uses in 15-40w-we had very good luck with
'Cats 'Mobil sometimes never having to add any between changes on a tight E7. Kevin
I use Shell Rotella T 15-40 also for years never had a problem.
