The Cabover is a Mack 'Quantum'. It uses the cab of the Renault, with Mack chassis and running gear. IDSTBC.

There is an error in one of the pics in the magazine that refers to the legendary Kenworth SAR.

The pic is of an S-900, not an SAR. An SAR is a W-900SAR, An SAR is a W-900.

The SAR was an Australian designed truck, the S was an American truck.

The S was the 60's truck, the SAR was a 70's truck.

Earlier models had an Autocar plate on the LH door, or there might be something on the pass seat box

Could be on the Right frame rail ahead of the front axle

Weren't LANOVA Diesels also available in the late 30's 40's Macks?

The Lanova's I think you're refering to were Mack engines. 'Lanova' is the name/style/type of the combustion chamber used in these 'Mack' engines.

That's how you get a 'Mack-Lanova'. I think the last Mack Lanova was the END-672, then the next engine was the END-673, which was a 'Direct-Injection' combustion chamber.

The ENDT673B 225hp Thermodyne was in between the 205 & the 250. It had the piston coolers.

Also, the 205 was a different engine, it was an END673T. I think max Hp was about 211, same as the END711.

Anyone know when the 250 Thermodyne come out?

The 250 Thermodyne is the ENDT673C, came out about 65/66.

could the 2nd 5 be mistaken for an 8, an RW758 would have been a 3408. A 400 would be a 721 and a 440 would be a 722. A Cummins would be a 766 or a 767 .

I have known of early cabs (CA36etc.)to have been repaired/rebuilt using the rear wall section of a later cab, (I think that is a CA492). Could this be the case here?

That might explain the missing vertical rib at the lower grab handle area that is noticable on the later cab, that Superdog is talking about.

Or did the earliest of the later cab, say 1973/74, have the early/steel dash, and no vertical rib at the lower grab handle location?

Could a cab serial No. date this cab to about the time Mack released the bigger cab?

The cab above on the R719 is definatley a bigger cab, call it what you want but it is a bigger cab. Along the bottom of the rear wall were the row of bolts is in the angled section at the cab mount location, well an early cab would be straight up vertical from there, on this cab its not, it's a big cab.

An R611T is an R600. R600 is the general model designation of all R600's. There are R609's 607's 685's 611, 612,686 and so on, dozens. The last two #'s in the model code refers to engine. The 1st letter after the #'s is the rear of chassis arrangement, eg. T is a single drive rear end and is only a 4x2. S is a tandem drive, 6x4. X is s/drive heavy duty, basically off highway. SX is Tandem drive heavy duty.

The R600 you are looking at could be an R611.

P.S. 611 refers to ENDT673C, 250hp, usually a Quadbox.
