  1. Had a great time at the show. See folks that I dont see all year at Macungie. Yes the Mack plant tour was shortened, but it`s still nice of them to open the doors and let us pretty much have the run of the place. Went by the Watts tent, got my Forum T shirt. Barry was a bit busy so I made my way back to the show. It was hot, but not unbearable.. Cant wait for Lititz..

  2. Here in NJ it seems the foreigners have taken over the triaxle dump truck business, mostly Turks but you see a lot of Mexicans too. They drive like animals - overloaded, way too fast, blowing stop signs and lights, in other words just ignorant and dangerous. You see them in Petes, Freightliners, Internationals and yes Macks but far and away the most popular for them is Volvo. An ugly truck with an ugly driver. I've noticed in recent years that when the DOT or troopers pull me over for a check they're not the b breakers they used to be I guess because I speak English and my trucks (both Macks) are safe and well maintained. When I need more material than I can haul myself on a job I call Planet Materials because "Nappy" runs only Macks and has American drivers. I can't deal with the low lifes that the quarries send out anymore, ignorant, who knows when they'll show up and when they do you can't communicate with them and they're usually driving guess what?, a Volvo. Thats so true. I went with a new driver to take his CDL test in Dallas 10 years ago. I climbed down out of the passenger side of the cab I apologized to the Trooper walking up to the truck to give the test that the AC had gone out on the way to the test site. He gave me a little laugh and said "well, at least you fellas speak english"..

  5. Thanks for the quick answer guys. I`ll call PENN DOT on Monday to see what the rules are for Pennsy. Your guidance has been most helpful.. Reason I ask is I saw a nice Mack R sitting for sale outside of Shimersvile PA and it had PA Antique tags on it. I may go look into it.

  6. Do you need to have a CDL to drive a Class 8 truck if it`s registered as an antique vehicle? I have heard 2 versions of this and this seems like the perfect place to get the straight answer. Thank folks.

  7. Hi all,

My name is Rich and I`ve been a mack fan since I was 5 riding with my Father in a B model and tank trailer hauling heating oil out of Linden NJ. Plus growing up outside of Allentown PA helped as well. I was truck mechanic for a while working mostly on R Models and CH`s. I`m not lucky enough to own my own classic Mack truck. But I love looking at the ones posted on here. My Macks are 1/87, 1/64 or 1/53 right now. But it`s still a fun hobby....
