  1. Please go into detail. I am open to all thoughts and ideas. I even though about pulling the EN401 and putting a 454 in place but am looking for the easiest route. Thanks
  2. Hello I am looking into the possibility of taking a 5 speed or a twin stick 10/15/20 speed transmission out of a Mack B42 (EN401/EN402 Engine) and installing an automatic transmission so my wife can drive it. What size is the bellhousing on the EN401/EN402 engine? What transmission should I use? It does not need to do above 50 mph and will only be used to tow the boat (7000lbs).
  3. Here it is! Please Rescue this truck. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1957-b-61-mack-rare-integral-sleeper-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2c561605feQQitemZ190422844926QQptZSalvageQ5fPartsQ5fCars
  4. I remember seeing a thread about someone wanting one of these. Killer price! http://zanesville.craigslist.org/atq/1850001437.html
  5. Hello I was wondering what the best plugs are for this engine. I took out Autolite 306 and installed AC Delco R45. I just wanted to make sure this is acceptable or if there is a better plug. Thanks
  6. Gentleman Hello. I bought a B42T with a EN401. (I will post pics ASAP). It starts right up but you have feather the throttle and choke it to keep it runnig and accelerate. I am in the process of running seafoam, new fuel, replacing fuel lines and plugs. I have heard the increasing the fuel pressure can help this issue. How could I do that? Who rebuilds these Zenith carbs? How does the oil bath air filter work? Can I just install a K & N instead? Any help would be great!!! Thank you in advance!
  7. I want this truck. It would take very little to convert it into a pickup for everyday use! Tell me where I can find one with that cab
  8. Hello I am still looking for my project Mack. I have narrowed it down to either a B42 or B61. 1.) Are these units the same physical size? Given the same platform, is the cab on one bigger than another? Width? My understanding that the units are the same size and the difference was in the frame strength and engines. 2.) Do you need a CDL to drive a B42 or B61? I will register it historical or classic and will use it for local driving and having fun (no work)? I know these are rookie question. I thank you in advance for your help.
  9. I am in the same boat. I am looking at a 1961 B42. Will a 471 DD fit? Thanks
  10. Rob Thanks for the response. I would love diesel but all of the ones that I come across have the twin sticks. For a daily driver I would prefer a 5 speed.
  11. Hello I am thinking about buying a B42 with a gas EN401? Are parts available? Are they very pricy or rare? Any input would be great. Thanks!
  12. Hello I just found this site. So much information and such a wealth of knowledge. I want to buy a single axel Mack as a project to build into a weekend fun truck. I have several questions, any help would be great. 1.) I am looking for a single axel Mack with a 471 detroit and a 5 speed. I think that finding a B42 would be the best package to find that in, is this true? Anyone know of one cheap? 2.) Do all of the Mack B's come with Air brakes? I would like to avoid them if possible? 3.) Can you find parts for the gas engine 402 macks? (carbs, distributors...) 4.) Do I need a CDL to drive the B series Mack? If I go a gas engine B20 would I need one? Diesel B61? Thank you so much!
