  1. I think you will find it to be a PITA. All the steel hood R models I have seen look like the cowl aera is diffrent as well as the larger radiator. looks like alot of drilling and fabricating

I changed my 1976 DM from the hard nose to a fiberglass front cap. The radiator must be swapped out, as well as the radiator mount because it sticks out too far from the crossmember it is bolted to. The cowl area on the DM is different then on an R model, but on mine it had a steel fender piece on the RH side that simply bolted on, and the LH side had a bracket that the fender bolted on to. Your best bet is to find an old steel hood R model and your parts should all swap with no trouble. I know of a junked R model with the steel hood here in West Memphis that seems to be in decent shape.

  2. will check for you 2morrow, got a couple of can at the garage that have a mack part number on it. no copy, it's the real one for sure and was available maybe 2 years ago. welcome in the Mack world, noot the only 20 years old kids who lives for Mack :SMOKIE-RT:

I would appreciate it! I went to a friend of mine today with the same question and he gave me an old number he had scrawled on the workbench years ago when he used to rebuild old macks and sell them. The # is 99L26236... I haven't called Mack with it yet, but I intend to. Let me know if it matches yours. Thanks!

  3. Jacob, I used to be a painter. Go to a Napa, if you have one, or a autoparts store that sells automotive paint. They should be able to help you out. If you can, take a piece of interior with you and they should be able to match the color and possibly put it into an aerosol can for you. Maybe you can get a better color made up more to you liking. Good luck

Our shop is right around the corner from a Napa... I'll go try that tomorrow... Thanks for the help!

Belmore no longer sells interior kits or parts for R models. Called them 6 months ago and again last month the rep said mack bought the remainder of ther inventory a year or more ago. Cant even get interior parts for a 2002 RD??

If you need some tan parts let me know I have a head liner in used fair shape

    Trent

Well I already lucked out on headliners... I bought 2 doors, a dash, all the dash panels, a headliner, and a passenger seat as well as a spare turbo and exhaust manifold out of a junked R model for $200 from a friend of mine. The only thing I really need is the cardboard panel that fits in the area behind the seats. I'd like to find one that has the pouch with the bulldog molded into in but I haven't had much luck.

Yeah tell me about it. The company I work for just bought 5 used DM690 triaxle dump trucks and they've had trouble finding the correct parts for them(1995 models). However, I had an idea today because I happened to catch a glimpse inside a Granite concrete truck. The interior seemed to be the same color beige as my 76 model. I might try to track down a code on that.

  4. I'm new to the site and would like to introduce myself. My name is Jacob and Im new to the trucking business as well. I got my CDL 6 months ago at the age of 19 and just bought a fixer-upper dm model mack. I changed the iron butterfly hood to a fiberglass tilt-hood and installed a 15 foot dump bed. I painted the truck and put all new glass in it but now im a little dissapointed with the interior. I found that Tri-State Mack here in Memphis cant find the paint code for the tan interior, or order any of the panels I need because they stopped using this color when they went to gray in 1988. I opted for a can of Caterpillar Mojave brown, but it just doesnt look like it should and doesnt match the color of the dash. Does anyone know the paint code or if any of the panels are availabe as NOS parts?
