  1. Yes sir, Conoco well it's now called WRB Refinery is expanding to add 10% more capacity, it's suppose to be done by 2011.

Hey Double L, do you haul in and out of the refinery? I haul propane out of the back end of the refinery. There are only a handful of us propane haulers that have any class and drive Macks. I don't get in there much in the summer but in the I'm in there 2 or 3 times a day

  2. They are pretty much a flat bed with a roof and curtains that either slide open or roll up. You secure the cargo like you would on a flat deck and it stays dry like in a van trailer. They are much stronger due to them being a flatbed using beams for the frame rather than using the multiple smaller beams as in a dry van trailer. Buy they are also heavier then a typical dry van trailer.

You see plenty down under where the ability to load from the side is a must.

The only bad thing that I've heard about curtains is if you have to back into a very narrow dock, The curtain can get bunched up on the sides when it is slid up. Other than that, they look like they are quick and easy.

  3. I have a AC 460E motor and can only get between 4.7 and 4.9 MPG. It has 3.73 gears with a 13 speed overdrive. I was wondering what kind of MPG others are getting. I was at the dealer yesterday and had an injector pump replaced because it was throwing an 84 code repeatedly. They put an update in the computer but the readout showed 4.7 over it's life. Am I going to have to live with this or is there something else wrong.

It's no worse than with my old E-7 355.

  5. The R-Model around the corner is retired. She hauls the B-81 around when the weather is nice. I'm gonna pull my covered wagon and a propane tanker/ammonia. We are gonna do some striping on it when things slow down in the spring. It's definitely going to be a work in progress. Thanks for all the comments.

  6. I have three Macks all together

    1959 B-81SX

    1982 R-686ST

    2000 CH613

all three are tractors. The CH is the money-maker for the other two antiques. I haul propane in the winter, anhydrous-ammonia in the spring, and grain and steel the rest of my days off from the firehouse. I would love to have a Mack Jr. to round out my collection. It will probably take winning the lottery to get that done.

  7. I replaced the 6 speed in my 1988 R686ST with a Eaton 9 speed direct. I really did'nt gain any highway speed. I should have used the overdrive(14609b instejava script:emoticon(':bulldog1:', 'smid_10')ad of 14609a). :mack1:

    Thanks Kharless

Alot of things have changed since that post for a 9 speed. I have since purchased a 2000 CH to use everyday and decided to park the R-Model till it qualifys for antique status. I'm just going to keep the R as it is.

    Thanks for the info

  8. I have Fontane no slack, air slide 5th wheel and I want to be able to pull a frameless dump trailer. My problem is that the way my 5th wheel is made I see no easy way to mount a bar and still be able to slide it. I know you can buy a 5th wheel that has a bar at the front to hold it stationary when pulling a dump. but I would like to avoid buying a new one if I dont have to.

do they make kits to convert to a barred 5th wheel

I'm not 100% positive, but I have seen guys tilt 5th wheel up flat. They then weld some 1" flat stock under the back end to hold it flat. Just a thought.

Also I bought a 2000 CH613 and it needs a chrome bumper. Let me know if you come across another good deal like last time. It's a setback F/A

    Thanks

  9. Fireman  it is a 9513, great shape, Delphi is 70 miles north of Indy, i will take $500 with the mack bellhousing. i had 4.33 rears in my B model, installed 3.87, i thought a double overdrive would be much so i  installed a single overdrive 13, took the top cover off checked it out, shifted good, with the single overdrive with 22.5 hi tred tires it runs 82mph , i think you have to use a pull type clutch but do not know fo sure          Ron

    Thanks Ron

I was really looking for a 12513. the price sounds great though. If I go that way I'll get back in touch with you.

    thanks

  10. If you use a direct transmission it dosnt make it run any faster if you have install a 9 or 10,13 speed, if you want to go faster you need an overdrive transmission, i have a double overdrive 13 speed roadranger. i also have a bellhousing , mack to fuller trans.        Ron

    Hey B61mack:

How much? What kind of shape? And Where in the world is Delphi IN

    Thanks

    Larry :mack1:

  11. We had a Fuller 9 speed and a Mack 9 speed in a couple of CH's and never had any problems at all. In fact the Fuller was under warrenty for 750,000 miles if you used synthetic gear oil.

As a matter of fact, if anybody knows where I can find a Mack or Fuller 9 speed for my 82 R-Model let me know. I want to have more road speed. Right now, I have a lo-hole 6 speed with 4.17's it only runs 62 MPH @ 2100 RPM's

    Thanks

    Larry :)
