  1. We see a few of those through our dealership, sold as Mack Freedom here in Canada. Basic engines are quite well built, but the rest of the truck, especially the wiring were a bit of a nightmare. Parts availability is the big issue now.

  2. Man,what a messed up trip you had. I feel some sympathy for that manager also. Some days, I wonder if all the techs here at our dealership, left their brains at home, because they sure do have some "outstanding performances", some days! Of course, as the service advisor, who is on alone at the service desk on the night shift, I get to deal with the repercussions. i'd like to blow my stack somedays :SMOKIE-RT: but they don't seem to care attimes.

  3. Found a neat picture of an old truckstop in Fayetteville,NC taken in 1962,B-model would be pretty close to new! looks like quite the place for its time. I never heard of it,or ever heard my Dad make mention of it,and i don't think there was a truckstop in the country he had'nt been to!..........Mark

That is a great picture from a fine year! I was born that year. Any pics from those days are so interesting, just seems such a less complicated world compared to now.

  4. I've seen two so far, both were piggybacking Granites that were being delivered to our dealership, but the Titans were going to Nanaimo Mack on Vancouver Island. They like the big trucks for the loggers, although they still don't measure up to the old Pacifics.

  5. Well i've been here for awile, but hadn't done an intro. I'm not a Mack owner, but I am surronded by them everyday at work. I'm a service advisor at a Mack dealership, here in British Columbia, Canada. I also am into building hot rods, hence the 29bowtie name. Yes, I have a 1929 Chevrolet Coach. My background has included lots of motorsports involvement, including crewing on a Top Alcohol Hydroplane, that ran low 6 second 1/4 miles, a Top Alcohol Funny car that ran high 5 sec. times and a Top Fuel Harley that ran high 6's. Years ago, my first full time job after high school was for a company called Haida Freightways, that had a whole fleet of Macks, including a bunch with the old twin stick 5 & 4.

  6. While I don't own a Mack, I work for a Mack Dealership as a Service Advisor,so I thought coming here would be educational, especially on the pre Volvo trucks. Taking an interestest in what the customer wants might seem something you don't see anymore, but I buess I'm old fashioned, because I beleive in a "get it done" attitude because "down time" is the costliest part of the industry. As hobbies go, Ive been involved in motorsports for over 25 years as a crew member of a "Top Alcohol Hydroplane" that held many 1/4 mile records here in Canada, as well as many winning events stateside, then moved over to Top Alcohol Funny Cars with a team sponsored by GM Goodwrench Service Plus, then on to a Top Fuel Harley that was #4 in AHDRA. Since then I,ve also been building a Hot Rod 1929 Chevrolet 2dr coach.
