Im changing out the oil on the S440 rear end on my Mack. It has not been changed since it arrived from the factory...... Do they fill it with synthetic or the Dino stuff? If it was Dino, can I switch to synthetic without screwing up the seals? And I also have a Eaton 8LL that im going to change the oil in. And I dont know if it had synthetic or Dino oil in it from the factory. Do you reccomend any good oilk types in these pieces to keep it quiet and running smooth? Thanks. Its a 06' CV713 by the way.

I guess what I was saying was, when you have the jake switch on (not actaully slowing the truck down, just on standby)...... then somehow the turbo produces less boost under accleration? What do you mean about 10 to 20 psi boost in brake mode? Are you saying you get 10 to 20 psi more when the Jake is activated..... like its slowing the truck down?

whats the fix for it? Do you know what the sweet spot is for this motor? Im driving a tri axle dump with a 8ll and 4.42 rears....... i run about 75 mph on the highway while turning about 1900 rpms, is that bad for the motor?

When you have the Jake (powerleash) on, will your turbo boost be lowered? I read another post on here and he said that he got less boost with the jake on. Thanks!

What about this engine? Right now when I start out in 1st, it puts out a pretty good amount of dark smoke, but after that, its all clear. Ive changed the air filter and fuel filters, but not much changed. What about adjusting the valves? I dont know if they have been adjusted yet? It has 176,000 miles. What should I be doing for this engine? Are there any secrets or problems with this motor?

if you look in the TSB, there are some sleeves that you order AFTER you put in the new frame......... So apparently not a new frame rail fixes the problem? I used to love Mack, but this just sucks. Any more info from anybody would be helpful...... Thanks!

Have any Granite CV owners found cracks between their front spring hangers? There is a Technical Service Bullitin from Mack on this. BUT my truck is over the 3 year 300,000 mile warranty..... What Im wondering is if anybody has had their frame rail replaced? Or what they did to fix the problem. If there are any MACK dealer people on here, can you tell me if this is a big problem?
