  1. Mackpro, I was down in your area this past weekend and was shopping (crazy) and I stopped by your lot and that Mack Vision got my attention, but it said it was a 07' but had a E7 motor in it? Was it an old flying J truck? I thought it was, but was suprised to see no automatic tranny. Otherwise it was nice. I might call this week about it. Back to topic though, will the dealer know what Im talking about when I say i need a throttle update? Does it increase response or just make it more sensitive?
  2. you got that right.... i hate to "rig" on stuff, espically if its new, or close to new. I know to move the drives back further, but its still just a bummer that you have such a gap between the cab and dump body. Everyone in our area uses a 16' body. So i dont know about that problem. On macks website, they are proud of their 'back of cab clearance." I think its a shame what they have done behind the cab.... Would people agree with me in saying that 70% of macks business is with some other "bodybuilder" adding on their frame?
  3. that would work. but we want the shortest total length possible. Would that affect the total length? Or just move the tandems further back? It gets tight in some of the places we go. But we did talk about that solution.... thanks for the idea though. Some of the International 7600 we work with have the rear wheels almost right at the tailgate. the only overhang is the dump apron. Has any other people with other bodies (garbage, concrete) had problems with this?
  4. thats our problem with weight right now. Our Cv's are tri-axles, but we cant get much weight on the front axle because the dump bed (16') sits so far back past the rear tandems. If a truck gets loaded too far in the rear it feels like your doing a wheelie down the highway, plus its a crappy ride, and a crappier truck to handle. This problem could be the nail in the coffin for our Mack truck run..... Kenworth has their gameface on with the t800.
  5. I never thought about the cab being so wide that you cant mount the exhaust all the way on the side of a 7 foot cab. I guess thats why kenworth can pull it off with their t800 because they dont have a full width cab and can stand to mount the whole thing on the side without blocking vision. We still have a R model with a narrow cab.... like you said, you dont need a full width cab for just the day and a dump truck.
  6. We are looking at ordering a few new trucks this winter, and we have been talking to our dealer about the gap between the cab and the dump body (ox bodies) that is caused by the exhaust sticking too far back. Is there a fix to this problem? I know Internation, Volvo and Kenworth with dump bodies are right next to the cab (3-4" between) Our CV713's have like a 10-12" gap..... Can mack not do any better? they could move the exhaust more twards the side of the cab and do better. Or be like International and mount the muffler under the cab and run the pipe up the truck... thanks for your help.
  7. where is the egr cooler located? is it a radiator?
  8. that was my thinking..... im glad you told me no. We normally fill up the filter with lucas fuel treatment stuff, and that worked well, or i should say it did not screw up anything...... has anybody else used lucas? Can they tell a difference? Also, what about getting your valves adjusted at 100,000 mile intervals? Our dealer wants us to, but I wanted to know if you would see a fuel increase and better jake brake (or powerleash) power after the adjust? Thanks!
  9. Somebody told me today if you fill your primary filter with ATF fluid and screw it on (doing an oil change) that this would clean your injectors better than anything you can use???? Is this correct? i dont want to do this to our motors and screw them up. We have asets and two mp8's. Would you reccomend this?
  10. I have no clue about the engine? I think its a diesel though. We used it was back in the day when we had a fleet of them. This is the last one we kept. We keep buying Mack, from the B model, to the R model, to now the GU. The truck is in Kentucky. It has sat out in the weather ever since I have been a child. I'll try to post some pics monday. Would it be better to part it out? I dont want to spend much time on it. So im guessing that the whole truck would be better for us.
  11. Hello, we have a B61 sitting on our lot from way back in the day. It has a flatbed on its rear. Its in decent shape, with alot of good useable parts. Would it be worth my while to try and sell it. What type of money do people give for these things? Who could I contact about selling? Thanks!
  12. No the tire size is the same. I'll take it into the dealer and see what type of updates they can do for me. I think I need the overhead run too. This motor smokes too when you have it below 1400 rpm, is that normal too? Its just a small black smoke when you are under a pull. Then it will clear up after 1400 rpm. thanks. I forgot, we have a 4.42 rear end, withte super single tires that are the equal to a 11R24.5
  13. What about any software upgrades for a 2006 cv713 with a AI-427? I see throttle response updates for other models and stuff, and I was wondering if there was any type of updates to help my truck run better. It seems like when the motor makes the most power, you have to shift. What are you opinions on this motor? Good bad?
  14. I agree with you on a blowout. BUT I must disagree with you on the footprint, the supersingles have a greater footprint than two duals. They are also better in the mud and soft dirt than duals. What they do is ride on top of the ground, instead of cutting into the dirt like duals. I had my first experience in the dirt with them, and the exact same trucks as mine, but with duals, were getting hung up, where i just went right past them. They are far superior to duals in the soft stuff......
  15. this is not our only truck...... BUT its the one I drive, so I like to keep it in perfection. We installed the new Michelin Xone XZY3 on the rear tandems this summer, and have gained 600 hundred pounds in payload capacity. My truck was the tester for these tires, I love them. What are your thoughts on the super singles on tri-axles? ANd have you ever heard any comments on them? Also, while Im at it, the truck is a 06' with a ASET 427. Are there any engine updates or anything of that nature that would give my truck more power, with just tinkering with the computer..... thanks also thanks for the replys on this subject. HK Trucking and FJH.
