  1. I know I’m a couple years late to the conversation, but I thought I would jump in if I could. I am a feeder driver for UPS in Montana where we had three of the MH 4x4’s. I was lucky enough to drive one my first year here at UPS. They were great in the snow, and great for getting over McDonald pass. The downside was they got terrible fuel mileage (3.5-4 mpg) And they were always going through wheel studs and Lugnuts on the steer axle. We were pulling Rocky Mountain doubles at the time 40ft and a 28 ft pup. We also had standard single axle MH’s Which we used to pull double 40s. As I recall the four-wheel-drive was a little bit longer wheelbase and you couldn’t pull double 40s with it. As I recall it was a 300 hp engine with a straight five speed transmission. Weed burner exhaust belching black smoke. We would Paul McDonald pass at about 14 mph. it has always been and still is UPS policy that all vehicles are crashed at the end of service life. They generally spray paint them white then paint a serial number on it, then take before and after photos of them being crushed. The UPS Way. UPS is self insured and I was always told that it was for liability reasons. I did not realize that there was only 12, and did not appreciate what a rare beast that I got to drive. I feel lucky.
