  1. Can anyone tell me what the ride hight should be for a Neway ARD 238 airride,it is in a 1989 Superliner,I have been to Neway web site, but they don't list the ARD 238,it has been replaced with ad-246-8.This set up looks close but it does, seem to have some changes,if anyone can tell me the hight from the top,of the axle to bottom of frame, would help alot. al
  2. I had a 2005 Kenwoth W-900 475 cat, stuido sleeper, real nice truck, sold it with 30,000 miles on it,junk.4.5 mpg, water leaks, wind noise.6,000 miles on it,cat had to replace the heads,13,000 miles turbo, front engine cover leaking. It seems like I was in a rental truck more then it the KW.I sold it with only 30,000 miles on it.So I go and buy a 2005 Peterbilt,475 cat,63'' flat top, junk, just as many problem with this one as with the KW,sold this one with 40,000 mile on it.Ok so I go for a 3rd time buy a new 2006 Western Star,Detroit diesel 515 hp,not a bad truck.5.5 mpg, rode good, not to many problems,I like this truck, still it was missing something. So I sold it 85,000 miles on it.I bought a 1988 Peterbilt,425 cat,1,050,000 mile on it,I have not had any problems with it.I have put 70,000 miles on it 6.5 mpg,no problems.I am also getting ready to start running my 1988 Superliner,E-9 V-8 450,240"WB,just came back from Double Eagle had a new 42" sleeper made for it,they also did the cab interior. After Double Eagle, the truck went to 4 States,in Joplin MO for pimpin'.I go the truck for the 2nd owner 450,000 miles on,never been out of Texas,I will switch off between my old Peterbilt and the Superliner,I have less money in two trucks then one new junk truck.I get better mpg, power and am alot happier driving the old trucks. Also if one of my older trucks need to go into a shop I can fix the old trucks on my own and save 100.00 per hour labor, and still have a extra truck to run and keep the money coming in.It seem funny anymore how guys are trying to make there new trucks look like old trucks.
  3. Can anybody tell if the Superliner ever came with a air ride cab,if it came from the factory with a sleeper on it.If if did were was the exhust mounted? From what I have been able to find out is that a day cab came with the exhust mounted to the cab,but I can seem to find out were it was mounted if it had a sleeper.I am having a sleeper built, from Double Eagle and there are running into a exhust problem. Thanks AL
  4. Can anybody tell how wide a factory Mack sleeper for a Superliner was,Able body made the sleeper, called them they can't seem to help me.I am having a sleeper made for my 1988,and need to know how wide, also if anybody know what the radus that was in front of the sleeper was,so the stacks can fit into the sleeper. Thanks AL
  5. I use there dealership in Oklahoma City,OK ,never had a problem,I go 100 miles from Tulsa to use them.
  6. Ok I my Suoerliner is just about ready for the road,1989 E 9 440 hp.I was going to use it for a back up truck, problem is it came out to nice to use once in a while.Truck is real tight, drop the pan on the motor rods and mains look new,I got the truck from the 2nd owner,so I have some of the history, truck never left Texas, shows 490,000 miles, might be,might not, sure looks like it the real milage.I want to run it everday,I run about 7,500 miles a month, run in a 200 mile area of Oklahoma, pull a flatbed, loaded one way, come back empty. How reliable is the E 9?,I want to sell my 2006 Western star, and run the Mack.No problems with the star, just want to drive a real truck again.I haul under contract to one customer,so reliabilty is a real big concern to me.
  7. Hi am not a Mack salesman or anything like that, just a owner/operator for the last 25 years,I have a hard time beliving you paid a 130,000 for a Vision,I bought one new in 2000 and gave 95,000 for it,I know prices have gone up,4 months ago I bought a 2006 Peterbilt,550 cat,18 spd for 114,500,and I am getting ready to to take delivery of a New Mack Rawhide, loaded truck, with full rear fenders,5 years 500,000 mile warrenty and gave 116,500 with FET.Mybe your mad cause you paid way to much for it.Anyway I called Savage trucking out of Slat Lake, they always ran Macks, but in 2004 they seem to have gone to IH with Cummins,This year they are back with Mack,so I called them today and taked to the head shop guy they had problems with the Cummins, but they have been running some E-7 460 2005 models, and have about 100,000 to 200,000 mile on them with very little problems.I also called John Cheesman trucking all they run is mack the top shop guy told me they had problem with the 2004 models. He told me they are running late 2005 and some 2006 model macks, with real good luck.Savage and Cheesman told me at abot 100,000 miles they seem to be breaking the turbo bolts, and Cheesman had a EGR COOLER plug up.They both told me that they are getting 5.5 to 6.35 mpg,and they keep a close eye on that.
  8. Can anybody tell me what years the E 9 440 hp was used. Was the 440,450,and 500 hp all the same, except for the pump settings?.I just got a real nice 1988 Superliner,it has the 440 in it,trying to see if the 440 was still used in 1988 or not.I drove it home on Sunday about 500 miles, there was no stopping it.I am sure it will out run my 2005 pete with a 475 cat acert, almost sure my 58 B 81 with the 673 will out run the cat. THANKS AL
