  1. Thanks, Mackpro, I will have to get ahold of my Mack dealer to get a quote. I just installed reman injectors so it looks like I probably limited myself to 400HP. But that is ok. In my motor book, It lists the rated hp and torque for the different motors. I see that the EM7-300 has more torque than my 350 shows, (dont have the book handy right now) and the torque rise percent is bigger. Would a truck set with that number have better pulling power? That question might sound funny, but I am assuming that the torque number is where I get my hill pulling ability. I was under the impression going to 400hp settings would be best, but the torque rise percent is less on those specs... maybe i am confused at how that is calculated, wonder if you could set me straight. Thanks, I definatley appreciate it. Andy oh yeah and what does the M mean in EM7 is it maxidyne?
  2. Hey guys, I have a 99 etech 350, and I am looking to get more power, I was looking at a junked 400 and was wondering if the ecm could be switched in a sort of plug and play manner. I am guessing probably not, that mack would have to reflash a ecm that was put on my truck, but I figured that I would throw it on here, I know there are some good mack mechanics watching! Any input would be appreciated, also was looking for an opinion on the boxed from illinois dyno, and similar, dont want to put anything on my truck thats going to cause a problem... Thanks, Andy
  3. Thank you rhasler, I will check this out tomorrow, havent seen any oil anywhere so that is a good sign, I will pull the wheels and check all this stuff out. First truck with ABS so didnt really know where to start. This will get me in the right direction, I will keep ya posted. Thanks a bunch!
  4. I am unsure on what kind it is, but thank you very much that will give me a place to start. I am wondering if maybe I got dirt in there to screw up the sensor, i was dumping gravel in a muddy area and had the duals in the slop pretty good. How do i figure out what type of abs system I have?
  5. Hey guys, I have been checking out this site for a while now, and have got some great info from the mack guys on here. Now I have a question of my own... I have a 99 RD w/ 350 etech and the ABS light is on. When I push my ABS diag button under the dash the light flashes 4 times then a short pause then 4 more times. Called my local Mack dealer they couldnt tell me what that code ment. They figured it was a sensor but I was wondering if someone could tell by the code what it was specifically. I have a list of codes for the electronic malfunction light, but no list for the ABS, where would this be available. I would just like to pinpoint the problem some before Just go guessing at stuff , any info is useful... thank You!... Andy
  6. Thanks for the welcome guys! My max gross is 64000 with my permit. That gets the max out of my 20,000 lb front and 44 rears. At 23500 empty I can get a hair over 20 ton on a load. Yup I get to Hammondsport a few times in the summer, Paul, nice place to truck through that time of year, always alot going on, makes the trips less boring!
  7. Hi everyone! I am a newbie to Big Mack Trucks and just wanted to introduce myself. I am a 25 year old guy with a 1986 DM686s 10 wheel dump truck. I have owned this truck since I have been 18 and have made a living it since hauling gravel and asphalt locally here in Steuben County, NY. The old girl's got a E6-285 with a 6 speed airshift transmission and 4.17 gears. I'm sure most of you know that means top speed of about 63 mph for me. It has about 410,000 miles on it, and is in pretty good shape for the year. It is due for a paint job which I hope to get to this spring. I try to do all of my own maintenance from grease jobs to motor overhauls. The simplicity of this 1986 truck allows me to keep doing this. I really think that Mack had it all figured out in the late 80s and wish that trucks like mine were still coming off the assembly line. Most guys my age would like a truck with more power and probably something more comfortable than a DM, but I have grown up with these trucks on our farm and dont want anything but an old Mack. If I were going to upgrade, I would be looking for an R model (i guess just putting my cab in the middle and getting the backside of the motor out from under the dash would be enough upgrade for me). Anyway thats why I joined this sight, I like Mack trucks and I want to talk about them. Plus after reading some posts,I see there is a good selection of knowledgable Mack mechanics here that I hope to benefit from. I definately will be asking more questions than I will be giving answers! Thanks, Andy.
