  1. I contemplated that, lol but my luck it’ll stop working first day I put the truck to work.
  2. Update, I unplugged the sensor and plugged it back in and it was working, took the truck for a drive and no issues. I ordered a new sensor from the dealer and will install when it gets here. I’m not sure if it was a coincidence or just the sensor being on its way out (no idea how old it is) so I’m glad it was something simple this time!
  3. I’ll have to check that out tomorrow morning. I figured they were working in the same area maybe something happened, but the sensor is pretty cheap so can always try replacing it and go from there. Just seems like as soon as I’m ready to get it working it’s one thing after another
  4. If there was someone local that could do it I’d drive it there, but driving it derated is no good when you need to do highway speeds to get to a shop and it just can’t. I’m going to try adjusting the sensor, if that doesn’t work I’ll replace it since it’s cheap. Then if that doesn’t work I’ll probably end up having to bring it to the shop again, but that’ll be after I try some things
  5. I am assuming you mean to loosen the jam nut at the bottom, and screw the sensor itself down until it touches, back it out 1 full turn and then tighten the jam nut back down? I’ll be able to screw the sensor with my hands or will I need a wrench?
  6. I was looking at it before the rain storm started, I wiggled it to make sure it was plugged in, when it dries out tomorrow I want to try unplug/plug and see if that does anything
  7. They were putting on a backup bepper, guess the wiring was all sorts of messed up and they must have had to do something right the reverse switch. I checked and it’s plugged in, doesn’t look pinched or any oxidation from the sensor to the connector. I’m still waiting for the owner to call back. Hopefully they offer to take a look at it. I drove it there and the Speedo was working picked it up and it wasn’t. Not saying they are the reason but just the facts. I’m sure they will make it right
  8. So I looked online and I believe this is the sensor? Anything special I have to do to replace it?
  9. I started to read up, seems when the Speedo is not working it gets derated. I think that’s what’s going on.
  10. Shop was fixing the lighting and air leak with the tag axle issues. They slip says they repaired some wiring at the trans for reverse, so maybe they did something with the speed sensor? I have to call them this morning and see
  11. No more smoke than usual. It just seems like the power isn’t there it’s strange. I had the shop fix some things I had wrong, some lights. They did have to fix some wiring for the reverse on the trans, maybe they hit the speed sensor or something, I’m going to call them today and see, when I dropped the truck off it was fine, and the Speedo worked so I’m thinking maybe it was something happened when working on it
  12. 2003 cl 713 Picked the truck up from the shop…. The Speedometer just decided that it wanted to stop working, I’m assuming that’s a wire?hopefully something simple. the next issue is truck feels like it’s not building boost. Can have the pedal all the way to the floor and the truck just don’t pull.
  13. Just picked the truck up, they fixed most of the issues, but now I have some new ones. The Speedometer just decided that it wanted yo stop working, I’m assuming that’s a wire, hopefully something simple. the next issue is truck feels like it’s not building boost. Can have the pedal all the way to the floor and the truck just don’t pull. im still having trouble with my shifting, better but having trouble downshifting when you come up to a light and it turns green that’s where it seems I’m having the most trouble
  14. The issue is I get frustrated, and then when I can’t find the gear I panic because the people behind me are in such a big rush. I need to work on relaxing No clutch, only to start and stop once rolling. I did figure out my Issue. I was trying to downshift going way too fast. Once my father saw what I was doing he said to slow down and I tried I haven’t had any problems downshifting any of the higher gears. 8-5 didn’t try 4 or below but your almost crawling in those gears and it should be pretty easy.
  15. Went out for an hour today. Can upshift fine, can’t downshift no matter what I try, only gear I can get from 6to 5th and even then that’s iffy sometimes. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong
  16. Yes I know you have rev the engine up to downshift, the 8ll is a bit different than the straight 6 speeds I’m used to, i think it’s just finding the sweet spot without over reving is what I need to work on and then it’ll be eaiser. Just need to keep practicing
  17. I didn’t see a sticker, the previous owner told me it liked to be shifted high and that shuck with me until I took it out and tried it myself. My issue with the downshifting was once I got it out of a gear to shift to a lower one I couldn’t get it into any gear, I figure there must be a trick I just don’t know yet! I’ll have to give that a try
  18. So finally got to take my 03 cl713 dump truck out on the road yesterday for the first time. The 8ll is a bit different to get used to, I do have some questions that hopefully can help me. I have no problem upshifting with or without the clutch, the issue is downshifting, I cannot get it to go back into a gear, any gear, just a whole lot of grinding. The truck liked to be shifted high, 16-1800 rpm, when downshifting do I need to shift in that same range? It does go into gear at 1800 or so rpm but the tach only goes to 2200 and I’d prefer not to blow the engine. the splitter for low to high range. How exactly does it work if I want to downshift from say 5th to 4th, if I hit the splitter is it going to throw the trans into 1st gear? Or will it not do anything until I take it out of the gear it’s in (5th) if that makes any sense?
  19. I haven’t tried keeping the axle down and seeing if the pressure drops still, But yes, keeping it in the up position, come back out 2 hours later the axle is down and there is less 70-60 psi on the gauge. So there’s a big enough leak that when the pressure gets too low the axles just going to drop. I guess I’ll have to check the bags/ hoses out next
  20. I need to find a new way to attach photos to the posts, since I’m out of room and I’m not really sure how to delete pictures and whatnot. I guess I gotta get out there and check some of the likes under the bed and see what’s leaking and go from there
  21. Didn’t see any, I’ll have to get some wood under there and do some looking around
  22. Not sure, very well could be. I just was cautious looking around with the bed up. I’ll get something to prop it and then check the tanks. Chances are they probably have pinholes rotted in them!
  23. So those 2 tanks would be working along with one of the other systems, correct? I’m trying my best to understand how it all works. I do have some more pictures but it seems like I exceeded the data limit so not sure how I can upload them.
  24. What can I do to make sure the bed doesn’t come crashing down? I’m sorta afraid to be crawling around under it with it up. Is there a safe procedure or anything I’d you want to leave it up and look at the frame etc?
  25. I’m not sure why I can only upload 1 or 2 pictures at a time. But here’s a photo of under the frame. I appreciate all the help guys, I’m trying to track this down on my own but if I can’t I’ll end up having to find a shop to bring it to.
