This past Macungie someone had a 6v53 in a Ford. I have to find the picture as it fit perferctly in the engine bay. Not sure of the transmission though.
As for a trans would a lighter 5 speed and two speed axle be lighter? I have a feeling the 10 speed would be a pain because you now have to deal with air plumbing for the range selector. But if your adding air ride then it might not be a big problem. You could also try using the axle from a 5500 GMC with hyd disc brakes, they have smaller eight bolt hubs but you can get aluminum 22.5 rims for them.
Our GMC 6000 has a single speed dana axle with ten lugs but only 22.5x6.75 rims can be used because of the smaller GMC bolt pattern. 9R22.5 tires would be used today but we still use the original 8.25-20 bias ply tube tires on it. It has a 4 speed transmission (make un known to me maybe spicer/eaton) and a 350 Chevy V8 gasser. I have always wanted to drop a 6v53T and a 5 speed in it myself.
Good luck
yea a 5 spd would be the right thing to do but i want this to be a crazy idea and i love to drive truck so thats why i want a 10 spd also love detroits to so you see why i want to do this the 22.5 tires will just add to the look

Physically a 6V53, 71,or 92 are not exactly light weight, neither is an Eaton Fuller trans. Together they would probably be a pretty good load for a pickup. Someone recently posted some pictures of a 453 in a pickup and it seemed to pretty much fill the engine bay. I like BIG engines myself, so let's talk about why and what you want to accomplish.
yes the weight is a factor the motor alone is 1400 lbs and the trans would be around 600 or 700
but it would be cool its not going to pull or haul anything just be a work truck i no it will fit with some mods on youtube they put a 6v53 in a power wagon
-
thanks for your help might just get the adapters then
-
i want to put a detroit 6v53 and a 10spd eaton trans in my 71 chevy 3/4 ton and use a light duty truck axle out back with the 10 bolt wheel pattern or the 10 bolt adapters for the 8 bolt axle and use 22.5 rims and tires would be a nice combo
now anyone no what trucks had a light duty axle with the 10 bolt wheel bolt pattern i rather go with that so i can use the same u joint instead of an adapter drive shaft

you guys hear abought that coal ash spill in tenn kingston power plant thats crazy i work at the aps power plant here in the four corners we haul all the ash out of the plant we use the bottom ash for roads and dams and dykes we also haul the fly ash that i hate its nasty real fine finer the flower gets into motors, seals everything we distroy trucks in the flyash and equipment to just throwin money down the drain and when its windy it will sand blast you to shreds and give you breathing problems for life thats flyash that flooded tenn nasty it wont hurt you if you touch it but it does have mercury iron and sulfuric acid in it so dont eat it as i have you cant help it when the wind blows all the dams and dykes we have got motion detectors buried 30 feet into the dykes if it even shakes a little there out there inspecting it we drive on them all the time with trucks and never tripped a sensor so we must be doing something right as we built all those dykes except for the lake dam witch is over 50 feet deep its real crazy when you see it and drive down to the bottom all you can think of is if the dyke gave way what will you do but the plant is over 50 years old and no problems so we will see

sorry rob i have rs700l emblems on my truck which is trashed now because a driver backed into it on christmas and distroyed the hood and it was a new hood because 3 months ago another driver backed into it and thrashed the hood and radiator this truck just loves distroying hoods

yeah,yeah,that's the same thing I said,only different.
Now, if one train leaves St. Louis headed west at 4:15, and another train leaves Denver at 4:30 headed east, what time does the 8 o'clock bus get to the station?
at 8?

Rob, this has all been good information. Now let's take it a few steps further. The starter is hung up, or the electrical system is otherwise shorted out. The battery is gassing, or smoking. The battery cables are melting. The insurance premium is past due. The truck is parked between a new Lincoln Navigator and a day care center. From past experience I know that touching a melting electrical cable bare handed is bad, bad, bad. If the melting insulation doesn't stick to your skin, the red hot copper wire will burn the piss out of you. Very calmly taking a combination wrench and removing the positive cable, can, and most likely will cause a spark under these conditions. Past experience again. The resulting explosion will be very loud. Having these thoughts seared into your memory, a simple stationary panic, becomes a modified full blown panic. Hopping up and down from one foot to the other and yelling real loud probably wont help. Considering this to be an emergency, what would be the best course of action?
this is why i always put a battery disconnect on the trucks i got that and some of them always ran the battery down
-
i have alot of respect for batteries now because when i was 14 i was charging a battery for a truck and when i took the cable clamp off the battery it sparked and blew up in my face i am def in my right ear now from that when i charge a battery now i turn off the charger when i connect it or disconnect it a couple of weeks ago one of my employees was charging a battery and he had the charger on and when he took it off it blew up but he was out of the way so no damage just a bunch of acid on his coveralls there all eatn up now that acid is nasty stuff

I hear its tuff to get loans even with good credit right now. If you have had a CC or car loan before and can show you have no debt or Loans you may be in luck. If you can find a bank owned home they may help you. good luck and let us know

I've got a headliner out of a b-61 at the shop. I'll snap you a few photos tomorrow. It was perfect but a damn mouse, (since departed and fried til crunchy) chewed a hole in it rendering it useless except for a pattern.
Rob

My Thermodyne,
If you will tell us Mack Lovers where you are located we will be glad to tow that Mack home so you won't have to buy a $29.95 10x12 tarp to go over the cab. And Rob won't have to share that good meal with you.
mike
