MacPro...is dealer level support required to put a new/used/different power plant into service on the truck?

They say “it’s never worked out. There’s always something wrong wit a sensor or something on the salvage engine”. Rediculous..I have three other matching units with 450k miles...if a 250k mile take out is not worth putting in a truck does that mean that my other three units are due for rebuild? I should hope not..

Any idea on the dealer level support needed in putting in a new short block or complete power plant? Do all the new/used sensors need calibrating to communicate with my control modules or is it “plug and play” stuff? I’m concerned about the support I’ll get if I load it up and take it out of there shop in order to install a used power plant as they will only install the Mack ReMan engine which is 4x the price of the 200k mile MP8 complete engines that I am finding available.

I'm new here and new to Mack trucks. I purchased some CHU's out of a fleet. They have MP8 415's. DPF 2009-2010 trucks. I like them as they are spec'd out perfect for what we do. However...right now one of them is at my local mack dealer with a broken crankshaft. It took the block out with it so the whole lower end is toast. Is this an issue with MP8? The trucks had rev limits at 2250 when they where delivered. I set them to 1950 shortly after they went into service. My dealer is telling me they will not install anything but a Genuine Mack rebuild engine. Is this a common practice? I can buy a low mile MP8 that's been taken out of a truck for one reason or another from multiple sources for about 25% the price of the "Genuine mack rebuilt". Does putting in a short block or another MP8 in that truck require flashing and programming at the dealer level? How tight a grip do they have on my nuts here? Thanks!
