  1. It shows to have a Wabco compressor. There was a cylinder head replacement kit for them (Mack part number 8235-S9119068002). Cylinder head replacement was discontinued due to repeat failures caused by incorrect head installation. Here is a link to the Meritor Wabco technical publication for the cylinder head replacement:

I'm not sure the kit is still available thru Mack, the Meritor part number will be the same as above but without the 8235 in the part number.

rhasler, thanks for the info. I'll check monday to see if that kit is still available. Might be able to save some $$$.

  2. I have a '04 CH613 with an AC 427. I recently started having problems with the air compressor. It seems like the unloader valve(I think that is what it is called) started sticking. Usually it works fine but sometimes just won't start building air. I tried spraying WD-40 in the line coming from the governor and shot some air in trying to clean it up. This seemed to help for about a month but it started doing it again last night. Seems like I've seen on here where a certain air compressor around this year model had this problem and I was wondering if I have the same model and if there is a rebuild kit for it or if it just needs to be replaced. A new one from my Mack dealer was around $1400 and was cheaper than any I could find from an aftermarket dealer. I'm tired of worrying about it and was wondering if anyone on here could help or have any information. the vin# is 1M1AA18Y14N155523. Thanks in advance. Trey

  3. Randy,

Man........all I can say is........ya must have an IRON BUTT. I've never met a man that would take it in the who who area. We have a few guys and dolls at work that are from Texas and i've kinda wondered about them. They are whatcha call.............DIFFERENT. I guess if ya can sit inside and drive a B-Model all day then that tush is tough and can take any kind of punishment. GOOD LUCK

    LMAO!

Thanks Randy! After the day I've had I needed a good laugh. Funniest stuff I've heard in a while!

  4. Not taken wrong. Left was checked with right and king pins.

I think it's the rear diff. having oil analyzed will know by end of week. Meanwhile I'll stay local.

This may sound stupid, but I had a bad motor mount and when I turned the steering wheel the fan would hit the radiator shroud. Didn't move much but just enough to make a noise.

  5. saw some interesting stuff today-a Mack dealership in a round building. It's on rt. 50, west of Aurora Indiana.

And a big Mack truck with a huge load of pulpwood in Grayson, Ky.

Another Pete trying to keep up with a Mack!

  6. i had both, sold my tandem duell very easy. i have the 3 axle still.

hauling the same piece of equiepment on the different trailer, with the same truck. other than the tire thing, the frame on the tri axle is over a foot wider, felt better loading and cornering.

I used to work for an implement company with a 3 axle. I was told on uneven off-roads with a crown the 3 axle tracked better because the 2 axle duals is so narrow just the inside duals carried the load a lot of the time and was a lot less stable.

  7. ...which is why things will HOPEFULLY be less problematic with this go-around of emissions requirements, since it isn't a "new" technology that hasn't really been tested in real-world conditions. The only problem I see with it is the same as was experienced when the '07's came out and people with the DPF trucks couldn't always find a fuel stop that sold ULSD fuel. Heck, it was 3 years after the mandate and I was still seeing pumps marked "low-sulfur -- not for use in 2007 or newer engines" The exhaust fluid that is required on the SCR trucks isn't available at MOST of the fuel stops I tend to use, and the proprietors of those establishments won't likely stock it until there is a demand for it....and there won't be a demand for it until fleet owners are pretty sure they can buy the stuff. Kind of a catch-22. :pat:

You know, I really don't like all this emissions on trucks these days, but it's here to stay. On the plus side these new engines are good for the environment and maybe will satisfy all the tree huggers. I look at it like the passenger cars in the late 70's and early 80's. They had vacuum hoses everywhere and were a nightmare to work on. It wasn't long before most of the crap didn't work or people would by-pass it. Unfortunately that's not an option on trucks now, nor would you want to face the consequences if you got caught. The emissions on passenger cars is not a concern anymore since they figured it all out which I think is how trucks will be a few years from now. They'll eventually get it straightened out and it won't be an issue anymore, although I wouldn't really want a new one now(even if I could afford one!).

  8. Thanks for the help I will look tommorow we bought this at the auction like this but I didnt think of looking at the light bulbs to see if they are the same I know both are burning only it is like there is a day time running light for they dont dim or brighten they just stay on all the time.

Just an idea, have you tried replacing the relay with a known good one? I'm wondering if the relay could be stuck.

  9. The other day at work we received a USB floppy disk drive. In the box was a thin manual that on the front said "Ploppy Disk Drive". Laughter followed but it was a sad sign of the times. Many of the Chinese manufactures do not have English translators on sight nor do they want to hire one. So they probably use a Chinese to English translation book/web site/software that generates the horrible "engrish" we see in many product manuals. Guy I know bought a cheap Chinese scooter that had a sticker under the on/off switch: The ON position read "To work nirmal" the OFF position read: "Flame out". Not only do they use bad grammar, wrong words/phrases but they also misspell words. Its funny and sad at the same time.

Relax guys, King Obama is gonna fix everything. He just needs time to bow down and kiss more ass.
