You need to roll bearings in every 7 -10 thousand hours to be safe we  have a customer  that has 40000 + hours and counting on his!

they thrive on logging and dump truck work ! long haul not so much!

Do you no what it roughly costs do do a bearing roll.Mine are short hauls small contractor excavation and dozer work pull end dump and low bed, machines are are around 36000 pds. I put about 15000 kms. a year on truck.

  2. seen a 1984 superliner coming up at auction looks real good in pictuers 700,000 miles was wondering about the V8 what to look for or listen to.Dad had a 375 V8 awsome truck and real easy on fuel bearing turned on the crank heard later they had to much power for the bottom end i know i drove itin the  winter to hauled logs and summer gravel.thanks

  3. Did mack come with electronic fuel in 1999 looking at one don't no much about it have to go look at it 230000 miles don't no which engine it has any way anything that a person should be looking for thanks for now.Found out it has 350E7 engine 9speed fuller trans

  4. I was gone for a few days so i just. read your info. Thanks again.I know when my air tanks are empty it does lose air by the shifter till the air builds up to a point and then it quits.I will doe that rebuild in the next couple of weeks.the truck is a 1988 RDS688

  5. The weather is getting colder, you didn't by any chance change your trans oil and refill it with a heavier grade, did you?

Other than that, have you changed that spin on air filter on the back of the transmission?

Sometimes cold weather will shrink the O rings in the shift cylinders causing air to bypass the piston and cause slow or no shifting.

should i maybe put new orings in it is worse when it is cold the oil in the trans is 80/90

  6. any advice on why my air shifting is slow on my truck. It is a 1988 4th and 5th splits were always abit slow but now first and high to second and low is slow if i dont have the rpm over 1500 it will grind away. So i have to come to a complete stop start over.So i was wondering if the air pressuer can be turned up.I even found it is abit slow coming out of reverse to.

  7. Cause it doesn't have a Bulldog on the hood to give it "proper balance"? J/K.

Where I work, our heavy haul tractors (IH 5600i Paystars) have the Neway air ride and the trailers are 60 ton Trail kings on air ride.

When unloaded they'll put your head into the ceiling on a rough stretch of road, but I'm used to that so it doesn't bother me.

I have a mack with spring ride rides not to bad but, air is supposed to be smooth may be the trailer has to be air ride to

  8. I have 94 pete .I bought a 40ton lowebd the truck has air ride but the trailer is spring ride .now the truck rides like lumber wagon it is a set back axle and is a short wheel base.Any ideas as to why it is ding this?

  9. normal for a cold engine to smoke on cold start in the colder months. Need to know how hot it really was. transmissions can reach 180 deg on hard long pulls. all depends if it has a cooler or not. lots of friction in those meshing gears. did you check the oil level?

oil level was up.temp wise i'm not to sure to hot to hold on to very long 15-30 secs. this was about 20 mile pull 35-40 deg out side temp.

  10. I have A 1988 with a 350 12 speed . When it gets down to 30to20 outside temp it smokes white for about 5 min. before it clears up kind of misses to.The back out put shaft of the tranny was quite hot to touch after running down the road the other day.Any thoughts on what it might be? thanks.

  11. How 'bout the spec's? Is it a daycab? I wouldn't mind having something like that, if set up the way I

It had 14 & 46/ 400 & change for kiliometers it was sold they just hadn't taken it off there site.Yes it was a day cab aluimin tanks & buds

  12. What model of truck is it in?Just poping out the floor pan May not work in your application!

If its an rd or rw it is not a nice thing to do!You need to loosen the cab mount on the tube crossover at th rear of the cab if it is an air ride cab you need to take the shocks loose at on end!

    Yes it is a RD688S.

  13. Hard shifting in cold weather is a common problem with the 12 speed trany,a lot of guys inculding myself warm the truck up with the splitter in nutral and the stick in third gear, this helps alot, also make sure you have the right lube in the trany,if it's to heavy your going to have a lot of problems when it gets cold. Hope this helps,Good Luck

I was told to use 80-90 gear oil only.thanks

  14. Try changing the air filter element on the tranny and that should take care of your problem. Sounds like moisture in the air system,Tim

I did change it last summer at that time it did look clean on the inside. So i was thinking it should still be okay.Iv'e run about 275 hours since then. But i guess for what it costs i should try anuther one.

  15. depending on what type was used! The two peice type that are hinged just fall apart on their own somtimes! The two peice with pins and the eaton brake the only things that will usually break these is over adjusted clutch brake or pushed to the floor while rolling in gear!If you have another installed I suggest the use of the eaton brake slathered in grease or a pin type babcock brake also slathered in grease on assembly!

the grease will help prevent breakage.I like the eaton brake my self as we have had alot of failures with all of the others greased or not!

thanks for your help. The one they put in first had a hinge with a roll pin,And i don't think they put any grease on it.
