  1. On my 86 Mack, the throttle shaft moves in and out about 1/16 of an inch [governor lever]. Is there supposed to be spacer in there? Think this is part of engine flutter but also the hole is worn were the throttle lever attaches to the pump lever. Ordered a new one. Thanks

It's not that the smoke bothered me but read up on oil could get deluted.The guy i bought the truck from owed it for the last 15 years and was just used to pull his equipment around not very many miles and regular oil changes was my neighbour.I was possibly looking at doing some highway hauling as of now i just haul my equipment locally , i average 7thou. miles a year.

  4. Should of stated it has thirteen speed road ranger i was shifting at 1700 rpm. is that to low.

  6. Hooked up puff eleminator today it was unhooked when i bought the truck, noticed a good dercrease in power not much smoke tho not like before is that normal to lose power with it hooked up had more with it unhooked.

  8. bought 87 mack noticed jake dosn't work wiring from motor to cab looks good,also fuel gauge when key is off gos to 1/4 on gauge, turn key on it gos to empty.Any ideas on these two things.Thanks
  9. Oh k thanks it was top of the line truck at the time think it has 40 or 48 inch sleeper 38 rears on air.truck dos'nt need anything just want to dress it up a bit.
  10. Looking to puchase 1988 mack r. Can the steering wheel be changed to smaller one or is there tilt wheel that you can put in think i have seen pictuers of that, and it has rear spoke hubs can those hubs be changed to put allunim rims on.Thanks

  12. Do you no what it roughly costs do do a bearing roll.Mine are short hauls small contractor excavation and dozer work pull end dump and low bed, machines are are around 36000 pds. I put about 15000 kms. a year on truck.
  13. seen a 1984 superliner coming up at auction looks real good in pictuers 700,000 miles was wondering about the V8 what to look for or listen to.Dad had a 375 V8 awsome truck and real easy on fuel bearing turned on the crank heard later they had to much power for the bottom end i know i drove itin the winter to hauled logs and summer gravel.thanks

  16. Did mack come with electronic fuel in 1999 looking at one don't no much about it have to go look at it 230000 miles don't no which engine it has any way anything that a person should be looking for thanks for now.Found out it has 350E7 engine 9speed fuller trans

  18. I was gone for a few days so i just. read your info.Thanks again.I know when my air tanks are empty it does lose air by the shifter till the air builds up to a point and then it quits.I will doe that rebuild in the next couple of weeks.the truck is a 1988 RDS688

  21. any advice on why my air shifting is slow on my truck. It is a 1988 4th and 5th splits were always abit slow but now first and high to second and low is slow if i dont have the rpm over 1500 it will grind away. So i have to come to a complete stop start over.So i was wondering if the air pressuer can be turned up.I even found it is abit slow coming out of reverse to.

  24. I have 94 pete .I bought a 40ton lowebd the truck has air ride but the trailer is spring ride .now the truck rides like lumber wagon it is a set back axle and is a short wheel base.Any ideas as to why it is ding this?
  25. oil level was up.temp wise i'm not to sure to hot to hold on to very long 15-30 secs. this was about 20 mile pull 35-40 deg out side temp.
