Thank you!
I think yours will turn out fine.
while doing my truck old timers
said I was trying to make it better than new
I spent lot of time on it. I don't know if you
saw the patches we welded in it lot of metal work
but I am happy with it I am an expert by no means
with body work . I am a diesel mechanic by trade.
so body work is slow for me Steve

Thank you for all the tips!
I Am not sure I am going to
wet sand. Everyone says
she looks good .
most don't believe me when
I say it was the first one I did.
We made something to really
set off the back of the cab .I haven't
had a chance to work on it the last few days
I will try to keep my progress updated now that
a huge hurdle is out of the way.

It is single stage paint
I used medium reducer and a hardener
just followed the directions as far as mixing
I was surprised it was cool about 60 but it turned out ok
there is a little dust in it here and there but I cleaned the shop
best I could it is an old welding shop so there is dust and crap everywhere
of course the filler an all was sanded in the same bay no spray booth

thank's Bob
I am happy with it so far
can't wait to start
putting it back together

It isn't perfect and I was learning as I went I was going to just have someone do it but just couldn't afford to. We bought it with a lot of work done already it is 12volt start and the previous owner had complete rear brake job done I have receipts. It was dgiomacks truck she was a member on here she lost interest and got married so she sold me the Mack. It was registèred in ny so we drove it home it runs well and drives good couple oil leaks to fix Clean and paint frame it also has 4 new tires on rear. steve

thank's
It is my first paint job
not perfect but it's ok .
I had a body guy look at it before when in it was in just filler roughed in
he said 2000.00 to paint it so I took my time this summer
and tried to get it as straight and smooth as I could and these were the results
I got with a $15.00 spray gun from harbor freight

thank's fellas
this truck means alot because I looked for like 12
years for one my dads uncle had. I sat in it and
played for hours when I was 6 or so we couln't ever
find it after his kids gave it away after he passed away
my truck I bought to do as a project with my great uncle
my moms uncle . We started it in 08 and we did alot together
but in 2010 he was diagnosed with alzheimers disease and
is going down hill fast. He helped me make patches for it and
weld them in . but I am going to finish it alone I am learning to
do body work as I go as he can't help me he gets lost going from
the house to the garage . he sits in a chair and watches .
he was a talented welder fabricator for years but it is all gone now.
looks like the hard part is over now. I can handle the mechanics of it
that is what I do for work hope to have it done for next summer

I did find another one
and I like it
but it just isn't the same
as the sentimental value .
it would definetly stay
if it was my grandads truck.
that's why mine is going to be blue with black fenders
instead of red with black fenders. I didn't want it to look the same
because it's
not. Steve

I would try to find a way to keep it.
I spent 12 years looking for the b model I sat in When I was 6
it was my great uncles red with black fenders never able to track it down .
came up to a dead end looks like it was cut up. I would have loved to have it just because it was his.
He Died of Cancer in 1994. his kids didn't want it and gave it away But my father never thought I would someday want it.
He used to haul crushed cars with it in Ct. with the sleeper on it I would keep it even If I had to get rid of something else
just my 2 cents gramps gone you still have his mack. Steve

I had A guy Stop at my garage and ask Why restore your old junk B model ?
they don't meke them for a reason. get with the times do a R model or something newer.
those b macks are Junk he says . I asked him to leave since I never saw him before.
No need to take insults from stranger driving by. He stopped to see what I was working on
he saw the door open at the shop . He was looking at a house down the road for sale.
so I talked to the guy with the house for sale and they are not selling it to the guy who insulted me.
good I said I do not need that kind of guy around here middle of nowhere telling me to get rid of my stuff
because he drives a lexus and don't want to see my B model. he was from Massachusetts.

How much is he asking vinny?
-
There is a retaining plate behind the gear to unbolt and I have been told there are special tools for holding the lifters up
magnetic looks like a stick with magnet on end and a o ring on it.
hold lifter up slide o ring down and it holds lifter up to get cam out . never done it myself but that is what others at local truck shop told me. oh! supposed to be a special tool for installing h rings on E-9 I believe. someone who knows more than I do about it will probably chime in. good luck Steve
-
lookin good vinny!
keep going it will be
back together before you know it.
