  1. The photos aren't 6x6's i was just trying to show what the Body looked like and what the wheels n tires looked like . . .

It was an RD's Body for sure no mistaking that and it sat up high enough to see that it was a 6x6 for sure.

So then if the RMM and the DMM are the only 2 factory 6x6's then it was a conversion or an old truck with a new CAB.

    Mike

For anyone that's interested....we do make 'em at Macungie as a GU's ........have to go through the N.V.O.C. though and talk to Vic. He can get ya set up in pretty much what ya want. I've worked on 'em rolling down the line though....they are a little bit higher too. To make room for the front axle.......

  2. Mach Tech,

Also I am woundering how many poeple back down on buying the Titan becuase of the price?....

    Terry

    Hey Terry,

I heard quite a few orders were dropped because of the price. I don't know how many, but especially in this market, not many people can afford an impulse buy like that. I'll try to keep ya'll up to date on different changes as I see them come along.

  3. Ok I will bite! Is there is phase 1 ,2 ,3 and what are they and what is phase 4? ... Terry

The phases are just different engineering releases. Just different changes that are being put through. Phase two is as far as they are in building the trucks in the plant. Has the granite style bumper, but the addition of the LED work lights, etc. The sleeper isn't released yet as a factory option, but it should be some time after the sleeper line goes into Macungie, when and if that happens. Just have to wait I guess.....

  4. I learned something new , I have not seen a Vmac lV

If you are going to get a new truck soon, you probably want to buy one with the 2007 emission regulations, rather than the 2010 emissions, because when the 2010 are made you are going to need to get "add blue" (urea) in addition to your diesel. The ratio of usage isn't anything close to what you use in diesel, but you will have to start getting the urea stuff with the new 2010 trucks, and that sounds like it will pretty much be industry wide. But I have read positive reviews about the SCR system though, so it shouldn't be too bad. I think that a few of the CV gliders at the plant in Macungie are set up for the vmac II setup, and have mechanical knobs and other older type configureations.

  5. thats the 1st time i have ver seen a tire inflation system. They look like they wont last long. I can see them lines getting caught or ripped off some how.

DE is 73,280 for a tri axle

    MD i (think) is 70,000

I don't like that version of CTI. I installed some that didn't have the boom inbetween the tandems. They had the air going through the rear. It seemed to be a lot more reliable and less prone to damage. The exposed airline were a lot less exposed, just a little pigtail from the axle to the tire.

  6. I know that there are some Glider kits at the plant in Macungie, it isn't set up for the MP engines, I know we don't have any of the "new" granite gliders at the plant, though. You may be able to get one, but I'm not sure what kind of compliance issues you'd have trying to put an old engine in it.

  7. quick question have the main office moved yet ? came home from work the other day my aunt (who lives w/ me ) told me it was on the news the other day

& i mailed a corrction on my bulldog mag label they have me as MATT not Mack on adress label i hope they get it as i sent it to Allentown

    later

    :mack1:

nope WHQ is still there.......not sure exactly when it's leaving though......lots of rumors and speculation there

  8. Jerry

We were using the Volvo derivative engines before the U designation. The CTP, CXN, and CHN all used the Volvo based engine. We had a few delivered to Macungie that had the Volvo color scheme from when they were shipped here from Europe. The U is for Ultra Low Sulfur, which is the EPA 2007 emmisions engine. The Volvo powertrain Assembly plant is the Mack Hagerstown assembly plant. Volvo took it over and rocked thier world. Now they are putting in $50 million to machine the blocks there.

Salesman have a great way of twisting the meaning of things, lol. Mack doesn't make an engine designed to run

on Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel Fuel. Hence the U in your example above, CXU613 is as I had stated earlier. The U means

that it is equipped with a VOLVO engine. When the new EPA regulations took effect for 2007 , Volvo discontinued the

Mack engine. All Mack-branded trucks built after that had Volvo engines, built at the Volvo powertrain assembly

plant. The Mack MP7, MP8, and MP10 are identical to the Volvo D11, D13, and D16. Depending on which engines

are needed that day, they simply change the paint barrels at the end of the line. If Volvo needs engines, they paint

them green, if Mack needs engines, they paint them red. Also, the Mack branded CH and CX trucks are also now

built by Volvo at Volvo's assembly plant. I believe that the Granite is still assembled in Hagerstown though, at least for the time being.

  9. 3P is a Hell of a guy, I'm going to miss guys with talent like that! I know ambient air brackets aren't all that important 3P. But you are a stand up guy! I hope that us people in Macungie are able to hang on. I'm trying to fight the fight for our customers, and for anyone that has to work on our trucks. 3P you know I'm not afraid to say something to the guys from Greensboro. I just hate the thought of losing guys who know what Mack Trucks are about. Now that our cab is actually a Volvo cab. Our chassis is a Volvo chassis. The only thing that hasn't changed as dramatically are our cab overs. We still have that chassis and what's left of the cab. Just wonder how much more we'll be gutted.

But for everyone else out there Macungie will build the Macks like we have been building them there for the past 34 odd years. Since the F models were run in the plant. I will do my best kicking and screaming to get customer's wishes into the trucks, but it's looking to be one huge uphill battle!

Good luck 3P most of you guys in Allentown deserve Kudos for everything that you have done for US!!!!!!

    Thank you!

  10. The U is actually for Ultra Low Sulfer. I'm waiting to see what the 2010 version will be with the SCR and Urea Tank

    GUSCR fulla Pee

    MRUSCR gotta Pee

    LEUSCR Pee on U

Who knows how many more iterations there will be. The CT was with the old grey mack engine. The CTP was with the red pre emmisons engine. GU was code named the "fusion" to regard the similarites between the Mack and Volvo products. CT was the first Volvo frame used on a Mack, to my knowledge.

  11. RB600

most of the RB around here were straight trucks. But in its final days alot of people ordered these as tractors as they were built about a year longer after the RDs were dropped.

Actually in the plant the RD was the last of the two models run. First the RB dropped off the the DM stopped, then the RD and the CL was the final one run from the older model conventionals, if memory serves me correctly on what was run down the line

  12. You can download the spec sheets with the available options on the Mack web page. You can spec the lower power option if you wish, although I don't think the MP7 is available on the axle forward CHU. There's also several transmissions available, from 6 to 18 speeds as well as automatics.

You can get a Granite with a tractor set up too. Get bare bones etc. I know you can get an MP7 with a GU. A GU7 is an axle forward version, where a GU8 is an axle back version. Both can get the MP7

  13. Oh yea someone will defiantly want em. They might be options hopefully but I am sure some would just go to Mack AU and get the stacks and hardware from there.

Oh I have seen titans with stacks on both the front and coming up from the back of the cab. What an awesome sight with dual exhaust stacks, twin rear intake stacks and twin front snorkels. Do the filter housings have both side and rear intake ports?

I'll look at the one that I'm building tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'll see the cab tomorrow or Friday though. I'll let you know. I'm pretty sure that the rear of the canisters are where you open to pull out the filter.......I wish I had a camera, I'd take pics of the cab before it was mated to the chassis.

  14. We have designated computer for the vads!We wiped out ALL unnessary windows programs games and crap that comes with the windows

OPS the dam thing is still as slow as all get out!BUT it dosent error out nearly as often!

Speaking of programs that is another expence to add in to a dealers bottom line!I,m not blaming Volvo for this stuff cause Mack did the same stuff for years

We got esentul tools weve never used from vmac 1 era Fuel pump drive alinment tool,H ring installer Never touched one! the list goes on!

The new tools for the tightening of fuel lines that leak anyways and endup having to tighten em by feel .Its pretty much a crock!

Then the customer wonders why the shop rate is so high. the above is all part and parcel of the expences!included is the time it takes to stand watch a slow computer program work :(

Tools for tightening fuel lines????????? What do you mean? Maybe we should use something like that in the plant! NOT!

  15. Remember all new trucks including CXU/CHU models with MP-8 engines have the DPF exhaust filter which could pose a problem on a motor home conversion. The DPF needs plenty of room/ air flow around it. I wouldn't want to cover it up with side farings due to heat issues. I could be wrong but I have not seen a frame mounted DPF with side farings covering it up. The stand up DPF would be to /fat to use on a motorhome conversion I would think. This does not just apply to Macks but all 2008 trucks, can you say " thank you EPA" As far as the MP series engines we have had good luck with them so far, very few failures and no low power complaints. Our boss has had 2 motorhome conversions done, one was a 2001 CX613 with 460 hp and eaton autoshift, the other a 2005 CXN613 with 460P ASET with eaton autoshift. He sold the first one to fund the second one. Now he's talking about selling the second one and ordering a Mack Titan for the next conversion. He pulls Nascar type car trailers.

I believe you can get a space saver DPF which is located under the passenger side of the cab. It has a heat shield etc. I know it's available on GU 7 Axle Forward, GU 8 Axle Back, and TD 713 Titan. As far as CXU, CHU I'm not positve of their offerings. That would alleviate any potential problems with a MP engine with the 2007 emmisions. You do want to order it before the next prebuy though, which will be for the new 2010 emmisions, which we're going to see another outrigger, etc for the SCR. But whatever you do decide, I find it easier to push a clutch in with the larger square pedal, that the one that has the rubber on it. You can get whatever option you want put on by the options center. If you are leary about it, get a hold of the New Vehicle Options center up at the Mack plant, in Macungie Pennsylvania, ask for Vic Sherbick (sp?) They do a good job at adding their options, if you want factory installed. Possibilities are almost limitless!

  16. Are the 2004 CH and CX frames the same right down to the drilling? Or are they the same width and general layout but differnt lengths and hole drilling?

As of the new Vovlo style frames is when the drillings changed with the O-Line designation. Prior to the Vovlo style chassis they used A-Line geometry and measurements were in inches. Vovlo style chassis are in metric.
