The 8 plants were bought by 3 different buyers. US Bakeries accepted the union contract at 2 and 2 New Hostess plants voted to unionize after reopening.
Like I said...

Nabisco has closed a ton of plants, used to have one in Minneapolis too. That's nothing compared to the list of plants Hostess closed, the major companies merged into Hostess (Continental and Interstate) had well over 100 bakeries three decades ago. When they shut down their were only 35 still baking, and only about 8 have reopened under new ownership.
Amazing that 8 dared try to operate.... with the union buzzards circling around over head. Maybe they figured out something the other 70 or so plants couldn't.

Hostess didn't pay into any pensions for their last year of operation, and still couldn't make money. Hostess went bankrupt partly due to foreign competition and partly due to poor management. Hostess unionized competitors like Bimbo, US Bakeries, Lakeland, etc. paid the same pension contributions and are still in business.
If it helps you sleep nights good for you..... the truth of the matter is that the death blow on Hostess was before the last year, The union already had Hostess bled nearly dry (and in unmanageable debt by demanding more for the union so there was nothing left to pay the material suppliers) by the time they released their grip, kinda like letting Hostess put a band-aid on a severed artery.......but don't let that keep you awake nights your getting yours. Unions are going to get theirs too, hopefully sooner rather than later.

As a supervisor in a company with a union the union was rarely needed. Any problem was usually worked out on the spot. Most problems were mostly gripes once the employee got it off their chest work went on. The union steward was seldom involved. THEN the older employees started retiring and a new group of younger employees started taking their place. That is when things started to change for the worst. Jobs were too hot, hard, unsafe, or not my job for this group. In the old days everyone worked together. For the new group they seemed to work against each other. Finally I was able to retire.
Yeah, the entitlement generation took over.....they almost succeeded in taking over the country, then Trump came along.......suddenly their ilk is feeling the squeeze for a change.

I wonder how much she pays those koolade drinkers? I don't know about Trump but I can certainly imagine more than a few others would grope that group.

As I explained earlier, the people who would be BEST suited for any elected office value their good name and reputation more than the power of whatever office they might otherwise be inclined to seek. They DON'T seek office, despite being highly qualified and being of good moral character because they don't want to have their good name and reputation destroyed with lies and half-truths. The people who DO run for office are those who couldn't care less about their name and reputation as long as they get to wield the power that comes with the office they seek. They will do whatever is necessary to get that power, at whatever cost. Ends justify the means, so long as they get the power.
I don't think Trump cares as much about the power of the office as he does saving what's left of the country. He's already a fairly powerful guy, running a huge corporation with tens of thousands of employees. Hell, he OWNS the 757 he's currently flying around on...same basic plane as Air Force 1. He's sitting there in his own personal position of power, after having played the game for so many years, and he sees what is happening to the country which afforded him the opportunity to do what he has done...and he wants to stop the destruction, end the corruption, and restore the country to the greatness it once was. Sure, he's eccentric...made for great TV. Sure, he comes off as a bit of a clown. If you told me 6-8 months ago, I'd be supporting him for President, I would've called you crazy. Times change, though. While I didn't vote for him in the primaries, he'll get my vote next month. Why?
Hillary would be NOTHING without the power. Never has been anything, never will be anything. That's why she so desperately wants it.
Very well said, I couldn't agree more with everything you said. IMHO it's Trump/Pence or the end of America as we knew it (it's already circling the drain) I don't believe there has ever been a more important election in the history of this country.

I was in Bangor Maine yesterday to join Donald Trump at his rally there....He's nothing like the left wing media lap dogs are projecting him to be, He's a great speaker with great message and above all its evident He LOVES this country and in my opinion will do everything in his power to help ALL the citizens of America.

Thanks, I'll be sure and do that.....and what do you torque the gripes at? I've heard everywhere between 1100lbs. to 1600lbs? I don't remember what we did on the spring we repaired years ago....but the 1100 seems to be in my mind, but that's a far cry from the 1600 I've heard recently.
-
Ok thanks, thats what I was hoping to hear.

You say the rear screw is in the cut off? If so, on most rears the numbers you are looking for are stamped on the outer end of the pinion shaft...but I'm not sure about Mack, I've never looked at mine.

Like the title says, I have a broken bottom main leaf on my 44,000lb rear spring. I replaced everything BUT springs including the trunnion stand last fall just before I shut down for the winter. I have a single replacement leaf and am going to change it out my question is ...has anyone else done this before and what is the success rate of the new leaf working well with the 10 others above it? I'm going to give it a try regardless, the general consensus on changing the complete spring is that both need to be done together because of the axle alignment issues (i'm hoping just the bottom leaf won't throw things that far out of alignment). I'm going this route this once because of the parts difference ($166.00 for a replacement leaf vs $1450.00 for two springs) it's a calculated risk at this point. The gripes were new when I done the past work and I'm going to try reusing them on this move. I replaced a leaf on the other side (4th from the bottom) twelve years ago with a used leaf and that is still in the spring today. But I realize that wasn't a main leaf.

I'm surprised your dealer can actually get any dash parts. I thought they were long extinct. I may have some pieces but you'll have to bare with me till I get a chance to look. In the meantime I would grab what they have at dealer.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize they were no longer available...maybe their price wasn't that far off base.

I have an 86 RD685S with the gray interior, I would like to buy the two replaceable top pieces of the dash....The one above the speedo and tach and the one above the right side gauge cluster (the piece that the ashtray is recessed into) I'm not sure what model years or other models are the same but if anyone has these parts to sell at a reasonable price and could respond with the part #s I'll check mine and see if they are the same. My local Mack dealer has the piece that holds the ashtray....but wants $100.00 dollars for it, I'm hoping to find one for a bit less, I didn't ask about the piece above the speedo but I somehow doubt they're on sale either. When I get to the truck I'll get the #s from mine and post them. Thanks in advance

Update.... The new motor is working well, the combination of less fuel and more boost seems to be doing it good. The new turbo is pushing 20lbs of boost and the egts are never above 850...I believe this is going to be a good build.. ......and the trucks pulls as good as before to boot.
