The asphalt business should be good this year considering all of the frost heave damage.

    On another note

I have been seeing a little more CWPM activity on 95. New KW's t800's (not bad looking). They still can't kill off there 2 old CH's I saw going down 95.(ex two tone green ones from another company I think) Also saw a CWPM black RD i have never seen before. They must be bringing out some old dogs. :bulldog3:

Yeah James, the roads sure did take a beating this year, glad winter is finally over, if your ever in the area stop by !

  3. Well made the trip today to Canterbury with Bill S and Dan M to visit Denis and his Wednesday "coffee club". Always a treat seeing these boys-talk about history! We then went over to Pat C's American Paving shop where he and his boys were working on a couple of AB projects before they get back out on the road putting new asphalt down.

A few pix- Denis and his latest addition-237 powered F, the "coffee club, Denis and Pat and Pat's boys at work.

Nice Meeting you guys today! It was a pleasure, come back soon, those trucks should be done in a few weeks!

  4. Thanks Hopefully it went to a good home

1963 Mack log truck, pretty sure it was a B75 or B753 from the looks of it, said engine was rebuilt but had cracked block from freezing, sheet metal looked excellent, long w.b. budd wheels, was in NM. $1500

Thanks Superdog, hopefully it went to a good home.

  5. patdbossct. How would you compare Americans Macks vs KW's (likes dislikes) Any more Granites in the future. See your trucks on 95 all the time. Keep on truckin.

    James

The 12 KWs had tons of issues with the EGRs and Turbos when I bought the trucks new and some PTO issues as well, none of which the dealer wanted to acknowledge or fix. LitterIy replacing them every 6 to 8 months for the first few years. The worst part was, like clock work, once one of the 12 trucks EGR's went, the rest of the 12 trucks EGR's would go within a few weeks of each other. It seems that cummins finally straightened out their issues with the EGRs and Turbos and haven't really had problems with them in the last few years. The Allison Automatic transmissions in the KWs have been holding up well mostly, though we have replaced a couple of them in the last few years. The Granites on the other hand have had very few minor issues and run great everyday. They are a well built truck and driver friendly. The RD's R models and DM's are truly indestructible. The CL's are also a great truck. I definitely recommend Mack Granites (or Mack in General) over the KW's any day. The next purchase are definitely Mack's, no more KW's. If your ever in the area feel free to stop by, also got a lot of older restored AB and AC etc… Mack's that I keep up in the old Yaworski Truck Museum if you want to check them out.

  6. I was at that auction Pat. I think most everything went reasonable. good deal on those trucks.

Yes Maddog was really reasonable auction. I ended up with both AB's (finally started the frame up restoration on the better one a week ago) and the FT and the Brockway. Btw Im looking for the brass headlights & Y brackets and all the components on the steering wheel for the advance, and throttle if you see or hear of one for sale let me know please. Thanks Pat

  7. I agree, it is a sad trend. Most truck fleets here are slowly being taken over by automatic and synchro vehicles. I am of the firm belief that you shouldn't drive a heavy vehicle unless you can drive a traditional transmission but that is quickly becoming a minority held view.

The truck that I am thinking about the 12 speed for is more of a project truck, but it will also be a back up (at least for a while). I might give the 12 speed a try and hope for the best. Hardly have to change gear in this old R Model anyway so maybe that will save it!!

Well if it is just a back up or project truck and you drive it or have a good driver it is one great transmissions. I love it when i get back into one of those trucks.

  8. The single stick 12 speed version was a great transmission, unfortunately if you have drivers that are un familiar with it they can break the shift fork quite easily. Of course as time passes its getting harder to find drivers that are able to shift at all, hence why the last 12 trucks i bought were automatic transmissions. Its a sad trend but with modern cars and pick ups the younger generation don't really have a chance to learn how to drive a standard transmissions anymore. Well at least in Ct.
