  1. Ya I would definitely like to re paint the dash, and I've always liked the big white steering wheels. All the gauges work as well.
  2. Thanks for the input! As for a VIN im not sure, I havent bought the truck yet, maybe next time i stop down there i can grab it. Its got a 250 Mack with a duplex. The age was part of what really sparked my interest in the truck, along with its overall condition. I hope I can get it soon, im getting anxious to start on it! Heres a few more pics of it.
  3. Here's a couple pics of the truck. For some reason the other pics I tried uploading were coming up upside down. I'll try again
  4. Thanks for the responses! I have a few pics of the truck, how do I post them?
  5. Hi everyone, my name is Justin. I'm 22 years old and I'm looking at buying my first old Mack and had a few questions. First off, about the truck, it's a 1966 R 600. It's in really great shape overall, it has been partially restored. The current owner began restoration but found interest in another truck so he is selling this one. I'm hopefully going to buy it, but before I do I have been trying to do my homework in finding out what I will need to do to get this truck where I want it. My biggest concern was putting tires on it. It currently has 10.00 r22s on daytons, and from what I gather these are getting more difficult to find. I'm just looking to find some good used tires, and I'm thinking I will go with a 24.5 tubeless instead. I'm just not really sure on the rim size to go with. Other than tires I will also need to replace the lights and probably the wiring which I am not too worried about, it may need a new windshield wiper valve, and the cab needs paint. The frame has been blasted/painted already, the cab has new mounts, and has been primed, and the fuel tanks have been replaced. Interior is in excellent shape, newer seat and all gauges work. Being my first truck like this if I buy it I am trying to learn as much about it as possible. My plans are to buy it and finish fixing it up, loose the 5th wheel and build a flat bed for it and use it for doing side work and enjoy having and old classic like this. Sorry about having such a long post, any input would be much appreciated!
