OK NOW THAT WE GOT THE SIMPLE STUFF COVERED! you will need EAR PROTECTION and BAND AIDS next clear a 3 mile area around the truck, protect with crime scene tape then lastly apply for a ENVIROMENTAL POLLUTION PERMIT!
now slam hand in door - apply band aids- insert ear plugs- start cranking- change batteries- resume cranking- start cursing- this is the reason for the 3 mi. area wrench throwing etc. then as it starts to fire the EPA permit comes in here!
OH OH OH almost forgot the most important thing an extra 5 gallons of 40wt.
And yes 58 FWD I know your smiling reading this!
I'm thinking you guys do stand-up comedy in your spare time. Had a great laugh. I have never seen a detroit run wild,(hope I never do) but I sure have heard the stories. Hope things go smooth Btalmadge.
Guess if they don't I will be able to hear it here, north of the border.

There is saying by Farrah Gray "Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs."
That being said, I agree with GreenGiant. Paperwork and regulations are a big part of the job.

I would love to see pictures too, truck and steering wheel.

My 1985 RD685 has 38 rears, and has 5 spoke hubs, I thought Deere Macks 6 spokes meant it was heavier. I would also say it is a 237 for sure.
Great find Deere mack, looks like a nice truck.
Once you get trucking with it, be patient. With a load you won't set speed records. But it will get you there every time.
My advice…….get a BIG horn.So you can blow back at the cars that are passing you, giving you the finger.

Thanks for the props guys, hopefully one day UD will look down and see his truck at a show

NICE IRON but I have one question, with the drop axle that far forward aren't you light on the steer axle?
Thanks,
about the axle weights. It was setup for the maximum Ontario axle weight laws in 1986. I don't know the specific details of the axle spacing. All I can say is it must be right, because there have never been any issues at inspection stations…. Soon it won't matter anyway. The Ontario government has said we are too stupid to use a lift axle, and unless it is an automatic steering axle, it won't count. So some time soon my tri-axle will only be able to carry a tandem load. Bad dog seems to be well informed on axle weights and the new regulations coming in for us.

lol….Don't get to excited. The wrong video would have been our pets.

I'm just catching up on some drinking time, and thought I would download a short video of my dogs.
I know I have a short history with Mack , compared to most here. But I think I have almost the same passion.
I sure don't have the same knowledge. That I have discovered reading post.
I don't have many photos because it seems if you don't have a Pete or KW no one wants to see….. But you all.
Thanks again for having me aboard.
P.S. - I don't know if this will work, if it doesn't I will try again…….And I hope its the right video!

Other day with the big storm.
The only thing missing from your plowing pic is someone passing you on the left and trying to squeeze between you and the lead plow.
Great pictures!!

I know where you're at! I usually take a couple pieces of Equiptment up to Richie Bros in Bolton every year.
The next time you are in the area, and you are ready to kill the idiot at the front of the line of cars that is doing 25 miles/hour up hills and 55 miles/hour down hills………………Its probably me in my 85 RD, that has a 237 in it.
It may not be fast….but sure is pretty to watch!

57 old goat - we may have to get together some time. My 86 might bring back good memories for you. Has same engine and trans as your old one. I have 4.42 rears though.
It's nice to see so many people with a passion for iron. New or old

Thanks for the welcome alex. I'm form a little town called Palgrave. Its an hour north of Toronto. 15 min. north of Ritchie Bros. auction(Bolton). Everyone, I'm sure knows where that is.
Gotta say, I sure am enjoying looking at the pics and reading the stories here.

Love the pics!

I have been watching the storm, and have seen it was affected a lot of you south of the border. I hope it moves out soon and doesn't hurt you to much.
To the ones that plow snow. I hope you make a lot of $$$$$$ . You deserve it, Its a tough job , I know. Done it for 24 years.

Thanks for welcoming me!
The tractors in the pic are my fathers. I was taking him to a show. The one at the front of the trailer is a SC4, he bought it brand new when he was a teenager. Still runs like a top. The second one is a 300 .

Was looking for a rust free R model from the southern states.
When I stumbled across this site, it was like winning the lottery. What a great site!
It's nice to see such a great bunch with the same interest as me.
I grew up in an international household. Dad always had international trucks. My first two were also international.
In 1998 I bought my first mack. A 1985 RD685 (my membership pic) it is used for construction and snowplowing.
I liked my RD so much, I bought another. A 1986 RD 688.
Thanks for having me.

I don't find it funny at all. It doesn't look they backed off one bit when they were approaching the reporter. Sounds like no one was hurt, luckily.
But is that how they plow when they are approaching kids waiting for a school bus, or a senior shovelling there driveway? I don't think it is very
professional at all. just my 2 cents.
