  1. Ok so we have a whole new batch of issues with the CHU613 mack trucks(2013, average 200k miles). the SCR system is causing a bunch of issues. we are a small shop and lack all the big boys training. so we have to figure out thing on our own. First of all the DPF filter needs to been cleaned and baked every 4500 hours. Second the DEF pump is a heap of plastic junk that may or may not work right out of the box. The DEF filter needs to be changed every 50,000 miles. There is a DOC/muffler that sits atop the DPF, and according to one Mack service department, "Just spray it out with a steam cleaner, then let it air dry." I didn't bite. And we wont be putting any water on the DOC/muffler. still the SCR is about the biggest piece of crap ever introduced into trucking industry. only shy to all the different computers they have managed to install on a truck. i can only hope that my guys stay sharp and continue to read up on this tremoundously horrific addition that is meant to produce near 0 emmisions. i do hope that this helps someone. i did a search though the forums and could find that anyone had made mention of the SCR or the trouble that they create on the truck. i do wish that someone would create a thread that has more experiance than i do. and in closing "IF IT SMOKES, ITS BROKE." a different Mack service tech.
  2. how do you force a regen on ur truck?
  3. ok so an update... installed a new nox sensor and def filter. and we are using mack certified def fluid. still trhowing the nox and scr code. truck is going to the dealership. i hate it when i cant fix it or at least learn what caused it. but if i find out when it gets back ill post it on the forum. thanks for the info staxx and farmer.
  4. so now i have a new problem. Our mack trucks our starting to have a SCR derate mode, and showing a high Nox code. i clear all the codes then shut it off completely and then turn the key back on and it starts the derate all over again. seen a few other ppl say to just replace the filter and sensor and that should fix my problem. wanna get a little more feedback before i spend the money. also we are an oilfield company and these truck are going to a location that has spilled some kind of oxidizer all the ground. the trucks went on the location before the clean up. could this chemical have cause something to start missreading like a sensor?
  5. what kinda price range we talking about for a 2013 chu613 pinnacle mack? just the replacement buld.
  6. Thanks truckster...I sure miss the pre computer days.
  7. I work in a shop and we have about 20 of these trucks and we've had to send several to the dealership to get worked on. Supposably you have to change out the entire cluster and get it reprogrammed to the truck for the truck won't start. This takes a lot of time and I was wondering if there is a quicker way that I can do it in my own shop
  8. Analog coolant gauge not working. Are there any repairs that can be done to fix this or do I have to send it to mack to get the gauge cluster changed out?
  9. i replaced the blinker switch in my mack truck and the new switch blinks once, then it does nothing. i checked all the fuse and relay, and hooked up the old switch and it does the same thing. wth am i doing wrong?
