  1. Guys, thanks for the info! I already have a DMM686 (or 685, cant remember off the top of my head) and it is a monster winch truck/semi tractor. I mechanic on pipeline jobs so I find lots of cool treasures. My problem is I have already bought too many of them and I am about out of room. I will work a price out with this guy soon and if I cant get it, I will surely give you all a heads up. I dont have the means to get the photo that I want in my profile box but I hope to soon. This is a great forum and I am enjoying reading along. Hope I can contribute more soon. Btw, this truck is in Elk City OK.
  2. I found this DM 800 and talked to the owner. He bought the truck for its oil field winch body and has no need for the truck and does not know anything about it. The vin is DM809SX1176. It has a non turbo 6 diesel and 2 stick tranny plus an auxillery box with huge top mounted pto. It has 14.00-24 tires and odo says 109k. I don't know the year or what this engine is. I just know it is for sale and I am working on a price with him. Sure would like to know more about it. Thanks
  3. Gless Bros trucking in Blue Grass Iowa began in the 40s with diamond ts and whatever. Bill Gless (my grandfather) bought his first R model in the laye 60s. Painted it red on bottom and white above the hood ridge. After that, every new truck was a mack. Company was sold a few years back and a hundref or so Macks were traded out gor freightliners. Pretty sure the new owner had his own dealership.
  4. The "business" I refer to is managing the maintenance needs on 700 plus acres of cattle ranch and forest in the mountains. I also do landscaping with boulders which are abundant here. Only for my immediate family. "honey do" projects. We do have our own saw mill and build our own houses and buildings. The photo above is the site for my shop and the one where the IHC is pulling the dump trailer is my house site. Strictly DIY.
  5. Just saying hi. My daily driver is a 1978 DMM686 that began life as a readymix truck and now I use it for my winch tractor. I pull a home made 1962 2 axle lowboy hauling a variety of equipment from a 1942 Northwest crane, 1954 D6 cat, Bantum excavator from the 50's, etc. Newest piece I have is a 580K that is the same age as the Mack. My other daily truck is a home made cross between an IHC and a 5 ton military 6x6 cut down to 4x4. I don't do anything for hire. I just like to take care of my own business and I can do a lot real cheap with this old machinery. I would like to switch the 237 for a v-8. I've been told it can't be done. I don't listen to stuff like that. I think it would be awesome.
