  1. Of the various trucks with external alloy radiators, I am biased for sure, but this Mack B model radiator is timeless, it's design, shape and shutters (we have the split type just because I liked them and bit sturdier) are pure class. We have a set of the wide shutters, so we can swap at any time. There is 1 issue with the alloy, it was made with various products, not high quality, it cannot be polished to hard because the imperfections in the alloy appear, also porous.

The Auotcar, Diamond T and Peterbilt external radiators are not comparable.

  2. On 12/22/2021 at 4:33 AM, other dog said:

Robert Malone was 1 of 8 prominent medical specialists who were a panel interviewed by a journalist about 6 months ago on this very topic. It was an excellent and extremely informative interview and was posted on Youtube. I watched the interview, it should be must watching by ALL.

All 8 panel specialists spoke objectively. The no 1 point that all 8 spoke about from their respective medical specialisation, was that the vaccines are experimental and therefore unproven.

But you guessed it - Youtube deleted it words like not to community standards.

And the all the people that I know and are being infected with covid are double vaxed and they are getting very sick. Here in Victoria, Tuesday 11 people died from covid, 9 were double vaxed!

  3. If you have sprayed the LZ all around especially where there maybe some gaps or small holes, the LZ should have sealed those 100%.

We have had no leaks or similar in our B model cab after the LZ, we did not fit any other sound product and the Sound Control and the LZ have made the cab quiet, easy to listen to music and have a conversation without screaming

Looks good. Do the inside of your doors all around, you will notice the difference and do the inside bottom of doors it will seal and minimise rust from inside, the LZ will seal the metal joins.

  4. The Austrian govt has announced the current hard lock down for all it's citizens and 100% mandatory vaccinations by February 2022, otherwise (based on published information by BBC) jail and or massive $ fines. For a democracy that has suffered enormous loss of life and all else over the last 100 yrs, has the past been forgotten? I get the feeling that something is not right.

There are growing demonstrations evolving around Europe against lock downs and mandatory vaccinations.

Do you guys think anything like what the Austrian govt has done could happen in USA? And if it was to happen what do you think may follow?

My history lessons I recall, were that many of the major conflicts in last 200 years have somehow been ignited in the territories around Austria, Hungry, Serbia and the Balkans generally. Is there any connection here?

  5. I have just looked up Sacnia V8 DC16 engines for sale in Australia. This English motor is 2006, tested and price is $Aust 22,000 ($US 17,000). The English motors have not been worked any where near the E9's as in Australia. It looks similar in size to an E9, so it should fit into the Mack engine bay comfortably and with our hydrogen unit fitted onto it, it would reduce 80% of emissions. Compared to the cost of an E9, considering all else, this would be a practical option to keep a Mack Superliner and Aussie Valueliner operating for many successful years, plus the joy of having your Mack working. And the E9 preserved, so the Mack could be returned to original specs.

  6. There you go Paul, it sounds very close to a Mack V8! So apart from keeping 100% Mack, if desire is to have a V8 as close as possible to an E9, and want to keep a Mack truck going, it seems to me that say resting and preserving the E9 in the shed, running a Scania V8 for working purposes (reliable and compliant for the regs etc) then it would be a win/win.

  7. I have been seeing late model cab over V8 Scania's recently in Melbourne Australia and with 1 exhaust pipe, they do sound very similar to the Mack V8's. Yet I have not seen any with 2 stacks.

about 3 months ago I spoke to an owner driver of a cab over Scania with V8 and 18 spd manual box, he pulls a low loader, hauling excavators and similar heavy equipment. He bought it new and said a fantastic truck, motor has never given any issues, good fuel economy and pulls too. And as he got moving fully loaded with 35 ton machine, I was right next to the truck, gee it sounded very close to a Mack E9.

So if all else fails, could the Scania V8 be an option for a good condition Mack Superliner and the Aussie V8 Valueliner, and given it is current Scania motor it would meet the latest emissions regs in USA and Aust! I wonder how compatible the engine mountings are for Mack E9 and the Scania V8?

A comparison is the Subaru boxer 2 litre motor being fitted into VW Beetles and the VW Combi wagons.

I also notice there appears to be many of the V8 Scania's in the UK and Ireland, that travel across Europe, single and tandem drives with tri-axle fridge or dry pantechs.

  8. I read news today that AB is fed up, he can't handle the media etc, !!! Once they are on the opposite side of the desk all their huff and puff is evaporated, bit like Samson, (AB lost his desk and his TV Donald hair piece) after Delilah cut his hair he lost his mojo 😂 and so quickly!

Neil Sedaka's song ... the roof has fallen in ...

  9. May I suggest that after you fit the new panel, apply rust converter to any other surface rust, then apply a clear prime seal coat top and bottom to protect immediately. Then buy a pail of Lizard skin and spray all the underside and top side floor, especially all the weld joints and seam joints. Best to clean underside with high pressure to remove all crap etc.

The LS will give you a life time protection, have a look at B75 restoration posts, there are pics there to see the LS applied to our B model, he applied in his cabin.

A bit expensive but pays for itself because you know you have sealed the steel panels properly and you can rest with ease. Make sure you cab is water tight, especially water leakage from the windscreen rubbers. And you can apply it to inside bottom of the doors, but do the rust conversion first.

  10. I see many pictures on this forum and facebook truck pages with many old trucks effectively rotting slowly. And on some properties there are many trucks and other equipment, eg old quarries or construction company sites. The US is a big country with a big population and economy, you have had big productions of trucks and cars, compared to Australia. Most of our trucks have been imported, yes there is a Mack manufacturing operation but most parts come from US. So naturally you have substantial numbers of old trucks laying about that have not been sent for recycling (although I have read that dictator councils have been aggressive in this regard of recent years so reducing old truck numbers).

So when I see all those old trucks laying in the US fields and they are so low in $value, we sure could have some fun down here, especially when we see usable parts on trucks that will go to waste, instead of someone with some effort remove and store those valuable parts that are often sought, such a cab clearance lights that mostly are not damaged, door components etc, the list is endless, again instead of rotting or going into recycling.

However, that said, ultimately each owner does have a right to decide what they do with their old gear.

  11. Hi Hans, please can you tell us what year is it, engine, gearbox and diffs are in your Superliner. I see spyders on the rear and buds up front! It looks pretty good, original and complete. Appears it has sat quietly without anybody attacking it over the years. What is the frame and cabin condition, much rust? Your luck was meant to direct you to your new -old Mack.

That kinda happened to me 3 years ago. I saw an add for an old Supeliner here in Aussie land, called the vendor and in short he said that it was pretty rough for what I was looking for, but he said I have a Valueliner been sitting for 2 years since he got it and 6 years before with the previous owner, got it on a machinery trade. He had no use for it. It had all that I could have wanted and similar to yours in appearance about 98% original. I had a Mack man check it out and he gave his tick of approval. We negotiated a fair price and after 6 months we took it home.

And there was a another surprise that the vendor and I discovered later. Unknown to the vendor, his Superliner was the 1st Superliner built in Australia and from memory it had the original motor in it. It was in a sad condition. He found out after he sold it to a collector, who will restore it to original.

Good luck and enjoy your Superliner.

  12. Brocky

I think the Princess has been in mourning since she lost her man, she has not ventured out of her home castle since his funeral and of course Covid. They attended many shows over the years, from east to west. We miss our mate, at morning tea and afternoon tea, Ian always had a way with words and comments, a dry sense of humor. And everybody was christened with a nickname. Alan who built Princess Dianna Seduce and other trucks (he was at Tony's 2015 when you guys were there), his nickname is TapTap 😂

  13. Brocky we did meet at Tony's dinner and the day you guys were eyeing his BIG KENNEL filled with DOGGIES 😃

And you spoke to me at Ian's when you were looking at Kermit (the green Irish Bulldog christened by Ian, usual practice of coming up with appropriate names, his forte, hence the famous Princess Dianna that he enjoyed sleeping in when and the Princess when on their trips across Australia to shows), as Kermit was in progress in Ian's workshop.

You saw Tony's Seduce (his custom red B75 with the Pete sleeper cab) that was in front of his main doggie kennel, I am not sure if it was Ian or Tony that came with the name, to be investigated.

  14. Hello Brocky

Thank you for the information, much appreciated.

I was there with you guys in 2015, at Mack Heaven in Australia. Unfortunately our Kermit was not complete for the trip to Alice (you saw Kermit in Ian Lee's workshop when you visited Ian's workshop) so I had planned to be Ian's passenger to Alice in 2015. However, I did not join Ian in Princess Dianna for the trip to Alice because Kevin All had at the 11th hour decided to come over and it was only fair for me to give up my seat for Kevin.

So my mate Max and I flew to Brisbane, we hired a car went to the Gatton museum, then to Dalby to see Tom Saxelby's (sadly he died last year, I will try post some of his trucks) big excellent collection of Macks and Inters then across to Longreach to see the Qantas planes and museum and meet Ian and Kevin as they drove to Tony's. We followed them to Rocky and had dinner with all of you guys as guests of Tony and family.

Ian had visited a few truck collections in the USA and Canada, objectively, he said Tony's was equal to those over there.

At the 2018 Mack muster at Kyabram, Victoria, Kermit and Princess Dianna were together and Tony was there with his latest new Aussie Mack with his Tony Champion custom hood and he had picked up another baby Mack Mack fully restored (navy blue colour) from Clappo. Hopefully I can post pictures, if so I will post this baby Mack.

My mates and I had planned to attend Alice with our Macks for the 2020 five yearly show and then 2021 (the delayed 2020 show) and after Alice I was going to go to Rocky and then make my way home via Brisbane and Sydney. Covid stopped our plans. I was looking forward to see Gary Zary's B61 now in Tony's collection.

All the best to you guys over there.

  15. Now that we are in politically correct times, there was a time back that our fairer gender was referred to as a cow.

It seems that Billy boy is thinking of his golden times now that he is "free" as they say from the big "M"!!!

And maybe if we were or are locked up with a "cow" in a comfy garage, I am not convinced that the cow would be emitting much pollution - what do you think?

And maybe Billy boy has spent so much time with computer machines he may have forgotten how to tell the difference between a ... and a machine 🤣
