  1. A lot of guys ran big Fords back then. The Macks and Autocars were very expensive. Well Billy Hiler is still around. How long did Albert Scalitti run for? I wouldn't know any guys running out of Summit as I was a Bergen County boy.

  2. Yea cool. Are you going to take it to Englishtown? Going to be a bumpy ride. I took my R model in 06 and got battered going down the Turnpike.

all the money the turnpike charges it should be paved smooth w gold!! Proboly not takin truck. Wen is it anyway ?? I know usually sept??
  3. Well it started popping through the air cleaner and then my mechanic adjusted the valves and did one more time and said that was it as we were at our limit. It's ticking away too. He didn't want to tighten them anymore. He's a good guy and very sharp so. I had a spare motor but when we went over it it was pretty beat. I think I'd rather work with what I have. Some decisions to make in the future and maybe some help from the BMT gurus.

wow scary!! Sometimes I think hear mine do that on the decel.
  4. Ok so the DM is for show I presume. Where is the Essex County yard?

its on Bradford ave in cedar grove. I'm gonna put plates on the Mack I do wanna run it A load here or there .. Jus play.. All the money I've spent already plates and insurance don't seem like too much more to spend. I wanna put a load on that truck n listen to that turbo whistle!!
  5. the 300+ was made for use with a 10 speed, and with the operating range, would not work well at all with a 5 or 6 speed.,but you could put any trans. you wanted behind a 675 or 676,I've seen 10 and 13 speed fullers,10 and 12 speed Macks,, them.about anything you can imagine behind .

now somebody told me if I put a13 in there it would fall right on its face?? Watever that means.. Let me humbly say I'm outa my league when it comes to matching things up..!! I still want to put a different Trans xcept all these different model #s my head starts spinning ?
  6. Summit NJ he pulled out of Houdale's Quarry in Summit on Shunpike RD. I don't know if Lefty Veneiro is still around but he was good friends with him and Heiller and Yannuzzi.Another blast from the past would be Albert Scalitti from Pompton Lakes NJ he started with the Fords and then want to the DC9964 Autocars with HRF6-195 Cummins motors (he was also the mayor of the town)

    BULLHUSK

not to familiar w that quarry but lefty veneiro still going strong!! I think mark veneiro even stronger!!
  7. I saw Kevin last winter he came into the yard to talk to Leslie. We always have a Breen truck salting with us. Are you subbing for Essex County?

no rob.. I actually work there. I'm a mechanic in the Dpw
  8. Well Joey Gulino was Emerson Paving. Joey's dad works for him no and the three brothers sold a portion of the business to Mike Joey's cousins. Now I could tell you some stories also! LOL. Bobby was with DVS for a long time too. I didn't know he was with English. If he was with Mike it was just to fill in I assure you. I have a Jake on my 676 also. Truck is in the weeds needs a cam.

i know dean and remember wen he worked there I couldn't wat went on there.. Wat were the signs of bad cam??
  9. You drove for Colebella? Then you must know Bobby AKA Gerbal Jammer. Nick was driving for Leslie for a while he is basically retired and sold his RD to an enviromental co from Elmwood Park. Bobby is now driving for Joey Gulino driving his 1988 RD he got from Betts Enviromental. Cloabella had some nice DM's they were always clean.

i could tell stories all nite.. Hyper Kuiper my old man called him!!
  10. What trans do you have in the truck now?

The 237 was a turbo charged maxidyne non inter cooled only need 5 speeds

The 285 was a turbo charged ,side mount charged cooled maxidyne only needed 5 speeds

The 300 was a turbo charged ,front mount intercooled maxidyne needed 5 speeds

The 315 or 300+ was a turbo charged thurmodyne side mount charge cooled, needed 7 or more gears if I recall . It was not a low lugging engine

wen we got truck it had no Trans haha. We put a six speed mud stick in there. Was there 2 types of side mount air charge coolers??
