Does anyone know if external 7 inch fiberglass sun visors are available anywhere for a 1981 R model ? I want to paint it to match my truck. Thanks.

I love the Rosenfeld dump truck ! I grew up in Milford, MA, and a friend of my mother's drove for them. He gave me a ride in one just like that when I was a kid and I've been hooked ever since !

Thanks, guys for the tips. But that is not my truck in the weeds. I found that truck on Craigs list and wanted to buy it but the owner never returned any phone calls.
Hey, Superdog, are those horns you fished out of the dumpster any good ?

Did you say it was an "R 300" ? I heard of an R 400, but never a 300. Does it have a smaller engine ?

Thanks guys, for your suggestions !

Does anyone know where to find the chrome "R 600" emblem that goes to the left of the driver's door and the black plastic gauge covers with the Mack emblem on them that fit over an empty gauge hole in the dash ?
Thanks !

Ha, that sounds like a good idea ! But I'd have no idea where to get one or how to hook it up. I've only had my first Mack for only a month now am just getting to figure everything out !

Does anyone know where to get the covers that fit over an empty gauge hole ? They're black plastic and have the Macl logo on them.
Thanks !

I think it's an all wheel drive model, Truck Nut. A DM600XX, or something like that.

Thanks guys, for all your suggestions. They were a big help.

Hi Truck Nut ! You can find the colored mud flaps on e-bay, and the black and white ones at "Watts truck center" .

I plan on storing my 1981 R611ST single axle dump outside under a protective cover for the winter. What should I do to keep it in good shape till the Spring ? Should I leave the block heater on continuously, remove the batteries, keep them on a trickle charger, put additives in the fuel, etc. ?
Thanks a lot !

I just bought my first Mack, a 1981 single axle R611ST dump truck. It was a former municipal truck. Next to the driver's headlight is a plug receptacle which I've been told by my step-Dad, a former Mack owner,is for an engine block heater. I opened the hood, and apparently it had been disconnected from the receptacle. Is the connection to the block heater on the upper part of the engine block on the driver's side ? I found what looks like a metal pad with three wire connections on it. If a connect a section of 3 conductor electrical wire to the receptacle, to which terminal on the engine block connection do I connect the black and white wires ? I can see where the ground was because when they cut it off part of the green wire is still there. Thank you !

Okay, Brent. Thanks a lot. It looks like I'm going to have to get some smaller bulldogs and bumper guides separately and then figure out a way to attach the bulldogs to the guides.

I went to look at a used 1976 single axle R 686T dump that was for sale. After building up the air pressure, I went and released the blue and yellow knobs, and all the air dumped out. The owner insisted that nothing was wrong, and that I only have to push in the yellow knob to release the brakes. He did this and tried to move the truck, but I could hear the brakes squealing as they held the truck back while this guy revved the piss out of the engine to get it to move. Am I wrong, or is there something wrong with this truck ? I really did like it for the price, but was wondering if this is an expensive problem to fix.

Thanks, guys. Nice DM 800, by the way, Big Dog. Is that just a straight pipe on your chrome exhaust, or is there a muffler attached somewhere ?
