  1. Hi, going to start looking around for some good used tires for the 1953 LS 85 I recently bought.....wondering what would have been on this truck originally......and what guys are running now.....tire size is 9.00x20............Thanks

  2. Looking to change the oil in a 1953 LS85. The engine is a ENF707B. The question I have is about the Filter......It has a sock type filter now....The build sheet is hard to read but I think it says....236gb in small letters then 28B in larger print....I've read a bunch of posts here, but just want to make sure I get the right replacement if possible.

Any cross reference Numbers or a place to buy one would be great.......THANKS

  3. Hey FWD, Ive been meaning to ask you.....there was a 1958 Fwd truck up for sealed bid in PA. Do you know what it sold for or what condition it was in? I Thought about putting a bid in but it was just to far....chief was really nice sent me a bunch of pictures and info.Looked good in the pictures...Thanks

  4. I recently bought a fire truck from a beer distributor in N.J. They had a truck just like yours......they said they paid quite a bit for it.....but who knows what they mean by quite a bit......I will say this.....your truck is in far better shape than theirs.....im not sure they could have fit another bucket under it !! Yours is a beauty......i'll one up yarnall and go 2600.........What would that get me?...the tires?

  5. Paul, The first fire truck I ever drove was a maxim....it was from the early eighties. It was a great size for a city truck......easy to get around busy streets.....unlike today trucks that seem to get bigger and bigger each year. My department actually still has a maxim as a reserve piece......slower than slow.......embarrassing when the ladder beats us to a call but that doesn't happen often. I like all of the old trucks....International.....Mack.....Maxim......FWD........E.t.c.........the fox in the picture looks cool.....must have been something back in the day! I just happened across the Mack I bought.......and with all the great people on this site helping me out it made the decision easy for me......Thanks again to all.

  6. It's definitely a hale 750 two stage pump. On the opposite side of the transfer case there's a tag with a bunch of information on it....also on the officers side below the seat it has the pump serial #.......if I get a chance later I'll take a picture of the tag....Thanks

  7. Thanks for the advice on the chrome.....I'll try to pick up some of that polish this weekend......awe full lot of chrome when you really start looking around!!! Some things are beyond polish, but not to many. Also found the Dipstick for the transfer case....had a factory tag that read " never add oil without contacting Mack". Seemed kind of odd....but it was definitely on the transfer case.....oil was full and very clean......Thanks again to everyone for the suggestions

  8. Yeah I definitely need some paint for the diamond plate......any suggestions as to what mix, color, or brand you guys have used would be helpful. In looking at the truck it seems like the running boards unbolt......anyone had luck doing this? I also am looking for someone to do some chrome work? Thanks for he help
