  1. Thanks for the replies.....I'm not that knowledgeable on radios from that time. It does have the dash speaker, a speaker by the pump panel.... a big motorola box in a officers side compartment and as Green Dash mentioned the radio under the dash. The antenna that went on the windshield is gone....would like to find one, if anyone knows of one. Thanks again

  2. Looking to re-do the seats in a 1953 mack......they are a reddish color now and appear to be fairly old. But in the factory photo they look much lighter. Didnt know if someone had a suggestion as to what was original? Thankspost-12279-0-81173400-1356917647_thumb.jpost-12279-0-46581800-1356917675_thumb.j

  3. An auction with a reserve is foolish, why can't they just start the auction at the price they want. In the end it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Am I alone here?

I agree.....put the price you want for it....That being said ive seen items at a live auction struggle to get a 25 dollar bid.....and end up selling for a couple hundred.....

  4. No, I didn't paint them......I used some sort of graphite paste.......a friend of mine used it on his "69" Z28.......I'm sure it will wear off but it looks decent now and can be Put on easy enough. The stuff 84superdog recommended would have been better but I just wanted them back on the truck.

  5. Well last week I took my yearly trip to Ohio in pursuit of the elusive whitetail. When coming into the town of Zaleski off of 278 and turning right where it meets 677, I spotted a Dodge cabover tractor, single axle. It was sitting in a yard of older equipment. If anyone was looking for one, it looked to be in good condition, don't know if it is for sale, but if anyone lives in that area, maybe they can do a little leg work and check it out. I wish i had taken a picture but was in a hurry to get in the woods because my first passion is whitetails, sorry.

How did you make out on your trip? ....... Any luck?

  6. Carl, I actually contacted the current Chief awhile back....he was very excited....said he would dig around a little and see what he could find. He also mentioned that the truck was still in service well into the eighties....and that he remembers driving and pumping with the truck. He knew all about the truck and I'm sure he'll be a great source of information.....I would like to bring it back up there someday......would be pretty cool for it to be "home".....Thanks

  7. Mike, Wow....went back to the video to check them out....all nice looking trucks....you've certainly got your hands full.......I image you and your family probably had the most trucks there.....by the way, curious what the horseshoe is made out of?

  8. You guys are right on as far as some items being shipped loose, The build sheets actually state that all running board items be shipped not mounted.....as far as the chrome strips on the front bumper....who knows.... i would guess that mack put them on sometime after the picture was taken.....Al, I did see some pictures from the Mack Show......some good Looking trucks......would be cool to check it out next year if they have it. Also watched the video of the "Parade".....Saw Fyfxmn and Fwd's Trucks.....Both looked really nice!!! Though i would have seen some yellow ones......Mike???

  9. post-12279-0-67254100-1353111316_thumb.jpost-12279-0-42265000-1353111366_thumb.jGot the information packet from the Mack Museum today.....Very impressed!!! They sent all kinds of stuff....from manuals for each componet on the truck....Sales brochures....Pictures from the factory of not only my truck but of similar ones as well.....Blue prints....pump information...Amazing that a company would still have that information on file and not blow you off when you ask for it....If anyone reads this from the museum....Thanks....I'll be sending a donation next week.....Also a question for you fire truck guys...i noticed in the factory pictures a few things missing on the truck that i assume would have been factory....like chrome strips on front bumper....the post mounted red light....some gold leaf is missing here and there....rear scene lights.....are these things each department added once they got the truck or were the pictures taken before the truck was completely finished?
  10. post-12279-0-68107300-1353110140_thumb.jWell finally got the manifolds all set to go back on......repaired and re-machined....ended up getting a used set that wasnt cracked.....but when i split the intake and exhaust manifolds apart there was hole in the intake similar to the original set.....must be a common problem....anyway fixed the original intake and plan on using the new/used exhaust.....
  11. Hey if times get tough and I find out dog cooks like turkey or chicken I might be short some pets, it would have to be really tough though I do love my puppies, they keep the neighbors away.

Looks like your pup would make a nice "German Shepard pie".......if times get tough......Good looking dog!
