  1. I see pics of them on the Big Macks in Australia and New Zealand, I found a web site for a company in Australia and asked them for availability and cost BUT never heard from them . I cannot locate anyone in the U.S. that makes them . I would love to have one on my Mack as well as a bull bumper . If anyone has any information I would sure appreciate a few words as to the source etc. Than you , Get R Done Jerry .
  2. Specks are 207 inch W.B. E6 350 turned up. We think its about 425 at the time .Twin 135 Gal tanks Eaton 13 and Rockwell 373 rears with Newway susp . Came off the 4 inch turbo straight to 6Inch( about 10 inches) and then to a 8 inch elbo and 8 inch straight pipe. It has a very nice tone to it . Ill be replacing the stock turbo with a Detroit 12-7 60 series turbo and some new injectors soon and give the old girl a lot more power LOL. the truck had 191,000 original miles on it when i bought it and we have gone thru just about everything making sure all was in good workable condition . I have been hauling with it on a daily basis here in the washington State , Oregon and Idaho region . It pulls great and sure gets a lot of heads turning when the black smoke rolls .Dynatards make a great rumbling sound , And i am having a ball with the old girl .Ill get a video of it going thru the gears soon and post it up . The 8 inch exhaust was chosen to match the 8 inch air intake on the left side . The 8 inch also seems to have a much mellower tone then the smaller exhaust . I built a drain valve in the elbo at the lowest point for when we get rain . Ill be adding a 8 inch chrome rain cap to the pipe this winter when moisture becomes more frequent . The truck had a few issues from being idle for 7 years but its looking like we have about all the gremlins removed now .I have a lot of plans for this truck so stay tuned . Frame will be painted a cream color , and some type of accent paint will be added as well . Im still looking at options for a paint scheme, Who knows maybe ill repaint the whole truck . Gotta get after the tanks ect with a buffer as soon as i get time , I already hit a spot to see and they are going to polish up really well . Hope you liked the pics , Get R Done Jerry .
  3. Rear seal is in , its not all that hard , we made a install tool out of a piece of 1/2 inch plate , Cut it with a torch to same diameter as flywheel and then carefully drilled the three out of six holes to match the lay out on the flywheel . Started the speedy sleeve and seal and carefully turned the bolts 1/4 turn at a time removing the plate several times and measuring the seal . it went in pretty easy . Removed the tool we made and installed flywheel . the seal went in just a little more so we removed the flywheel one more time and checked the seal . It required a few more taps with a brass punch and it was a done deal . Hope this saves someone the cost of a almost 500.00 install tool . New clutch is in and waiting on new cross shaft today , then the tranny goes back in and the job will be done . Jerry .
  4. Howdy Jerry here , Im new to the forum as i just bought a 1985 MH 613 cab over , My wife works for a local farm and when i was doing some trailer repair for them i noticed this old cabover in the back of a equipt storage they have , The building is kept at 40 degrees year round , The truck had new tires , brakes and shocks on it , I crawled up inside and looked it over , The speedo was showing 191,000 miles . I asked the farmer if this was accurate and they said yes the truck had been parked when Dad retired and the wheel base was to long for what they did so they were keeping if for spare parts for a Mack dump truck they had , After a little convincing i ended up buying the truck for 5000.00 . and so the adventure began .the old girl has E6 350 , Eaton 13 speed and Rockwell rears with New way suspension so i feel its equipted pretty well . I have some friends that know these older trucks especially Macks inside and out so we started with the basics and moved on after a couple of weeks we had the old girl running like a top and looking pretty good . we eliminated the puff stop and fixed the dynatards , Turned up the fuel , came off the turbo wth 6 inch flex and then immediatly to a 8 inch elbo and 8 inch stack . the rear seal was leaking so we tore the tranny out and will be replacing everything from the clutch , fork, bushings seal etc . Time for a new pan gasket as well . this is turning out to be a blast this old truck , I haul step deck with it in the washington state area , If you see a brown CH 613 with Get R Done Transport on the door and a big Black stack blowing black smoke it me . just wanted to say howdy , Ill keep you posted on upgrades and get some pics posted soon , the next upgrade will be a Detroit 12-7 60 series turbo to handle the extra fuel we have provided. Im haveing a ball blowing the doors off some of the newer trucks pulling hills and blowing black smoke . the old dog is a runner . Already some of you have helped me with question i have had and i cannot thank you all enough for sharing your knowledge . thanks so much , Jerry .
  5. well got her tore down this afternoon after dropping off a load , the rear seal was leaking BIG time , clutch had some broken springs and removing the old rear main and speedy seat was a little bit of a job , The speedy seat had a real nice groove in her and im sure that was the reason for the oil leak .the throw out bearing hose had come loose from the bearing and was not getting any grease . The plan tomorrow is to replace the clutch, clutch fork and bushings , throw out bearing rear main and oil pan gasket as well as a new compressor , Next ill be replacing the turbo with a Detroit 12- 7 60 series turbo and see how many H.P. i can get out of the old girl . We already turned up the pump and elliminated the puff stop, came off the turbo and went straight to 6 inch pipe and then immediatly to a 8 inch elbo and stack , One stack Mack heck Yeah .( Barks pretty good when i turn the dynatards on ) . I have been having a ball with this old cab over blowing the doors off new modern trucks pulling hills with my step deck , black smoke just a rolling out the stack LOL.I know these drivers are asking themselves ( what the heck is he running in that thing ) . If you live in the North west ( washington State) keep your eyes open for a brown MH 613 with a BIG black stack , Get R Done transport is on the side door . Just having a ball with this old Mack, Im very fortunate to have friends with a ton of knowledge and hands on experiance to help me with this project , A 1985 truck with less then 200,000 original miles on it is a gift all its own , Its a daily driver and earns just as much money as my 80,000.00 Peterbilt did sooo to say im happy is a understatement . I have great plans for this old DOG and ill be taking some pictures and keep you abrest of the project as we go along . Jerry .
  6. Yup that was it , the thump is GONE . easy fix once you find it LOL. Thanks fellers. Jerry .
  7. thanks so much for the input , I called all around my area and there are none to be found , I guess well give it a try without and ill let you know the outcome , Mack parts man told me that there are two seals one with and one without speedy sleeve , i ordered both and will let you know what worked . thanks for the input fellers . Jerry .
  8. Didnt see one on Ebay , But Monoco tool in oregon has them for about the same price . Does anyone know if the seal can be installed without the danged thing??
  9. They sound great unless you have to drive the lil high reving no tourque bugger all day . My buddie told me when he was hauling hay with one he would have someone punch him in the face , stomp on his toe , slam his fingers in the door and then and only then was he in the proper mood to drive a 8v71 LOL. Tough old engines though .
  10. 1985 E6 350 . rear main is leaking , The parts are all available BUT try to find a install tool is NOT . I looked around today and have several friends ( mechanics at large truck shops) looking for a seal install tool but its looking like i may have to buy one . Found one new for 491.00 NOT looking forward to buying a tool i am sure i will not be useing a lot. Does anyone know if a install tool for a cummins or cat will work? or where there might be a rental available? thanking you in advance , Jerry .
  11. Thanks guys , Ron i did the long bar test , its tight , no movement . I should have explained better vit also does it in a straight line, just not as much . I think i may have found it today , There is a lock bolt on the front cab mount , it locks the bushing into place , mine was not in the correct location and the lock bolt was not seated all the way in and was actually loose when i checked it . we tightened the bolt that runs through the front cab mount until the correct area was found to enable the lock bolt to go into the bolt on the hinge area of the mount and when i drove it home i didnt hear the noise any more . Ill keep yall posted on this one LOL. Thanks so much for the brain matter , I can always use another brain or two helping with the gremlins we all run accross from time to time . Jerry .
  12. This is driving me nuts LOL. I have a 1985 MH 613 cabover . The thumping sound is intermitent , does it at weird times . seems to do it more when turning left , the sound is coming from the right side and seems to be right under the passengers feet . we have looked at everything that can possibly be making contacty with the cab and issolated , shimmed to make tight etc . I was wondering if anyone else has ever had this gremlin and knows what to look for . Thanks , Jerry .
  13. Dont have any pics yet but ill be taking some soon . Ill be sure to check the lines , This truck sat in a storage building for 5 to 7 years , it was a constant 40 degrees in the building year round and it had 191,000 original miles on it when i bought it . The turbo was supposed to be new but there was a few issues that made me suspect problems I.E. High crank case pressure, blowing oil out all over the place etc. There does not seem to be a lot of blowby, so im just chipping away at the obvious one detail at a time until i get this old dog figured out . as i said it runs great , and i haul with it almost everyday up here in the north west . Ill take some pics and get them posted . Jerry .
  14. Having a similar issues with my 85 MH 613 , E-6 350 . truck runs great , found the blowby hose off the valve covers had been replaced with a RADIATOR hose and the 1 1/2 inch hose had shrunk to a bout a 1/2 inch diameter, Replaced with new and that ended my excessive crank case pressure problem or so it seems for now . I had to remover the tach drive cable as it was pumping oil clean up to the junction point just below the cab floor . Problem number two is Now i have snot in Racor air dryer a bunch is a understatement. I ordered a new air compressor and it will be here on tuesday . Im hoping that is the problem with the oil in the dryer . Problem number three is perhaps a leaking turbo pressurising the crank case thru the oil return line . Did a leak test and yes the turbo does leak a tiny bit of air under pressure . New turbo may be next . Learning a lot about the Macks and having a good amount of fun doing it . This truck is a daily driver and im pulling a step deck with it . This site has already proven to be a great asset to me , cant thank you all enough for the gift of your knowledge and hands on experiance . removed the puff eliminator , someone had stripped the threads and was leaking a little oil , from what i have been told i dont need it anyways ? I was told that i could replace the stock turbo with a Detroit 12 7 turbo and gain a few H.P. has anyone had any exp with this concept? Ill keep you all posted on my trials wiith this great old truck . Jerry .
