rhasler Posted June 29, 2011 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Item B is the "dead axle". Item AS is the trunnion bushing. The dead axle is attached to the frame via the trunnion stand and provides the reference point for centering the rear suspension. If you're rear suspension is "wandering" it's more likely that items P and Q have separated plates. The load cushions (items P and Q) maintain the axles relationship to the frame by centering in the spring pack. With age and use the bonding between the plates and the rubber will break down which will allow the axles to shift in their positions. A quick way to check for such a condition is to see if the leaf spring "T" leaf has been banging against the backside of item E. Quote "Mebbe I'm too ugly and stupid to give up!"
