  1. Brought the truck in the other day to check out the steering shart and the steering was working fine, checked the alignment of the joints anyway and everything seemed lined up ok. Must've been air that finally just worked it's way out.
  2. Light bulb went off when you said check the steering shaft timing. We had it apart awhile back when it was broke down for something else and I had to rob the U-joints for an emergency repair on a truck elsewhere. I'll check that out. Looks like a real pipe, dunno, seen it on the internet and thought it would make a good avatar pic.
  3. Same truck I just did the rear work on, '01 RD 688, we had in the shop awhile back repairing a beat up fuel tank from an accident, while it was in here I replaced the power steering hoses due to them starting to leak pretty bad. After it was done I noticed some hard spots in the steering on occasion. I thought I still had some air in the system and kept working it, but it never cleared up. The driver said it's been doing it before I replaced the hoses. Any easy way to single out where the problem is exactly?
  4. Yeah we ended up going through axle surgeons, did a great job, fast too once we got the paperwork approved from the higher ups. All we had them do was replace the spindle, I did the rest after that as I wanted to replace the bearings and brakes on the other sode as well.
  5. Yes, I know it's removable I need to know of a part number or a supplier, we're trying our Mack deal again today to see if we can get another person on the phone. I won't be doing the repair, a machine shop next door will.
  6. Hi, been lurking around here and really like the board, been meaning to make an introduction post, but work keeps me pretty busy. Have one Mack I'm working on that lost a wheel bearing and ate up the stub on the axle. I noticed the stub is removable, but the Mack dealer we go through says they don't offer just the stub and the whole housing will have to be replaced. Does anyone know of an aftermarket manufacturer that offers these? Thanks.
