  1. Was that the Market Street bridge in Steubenville Ohio. Back in the 70s I learned to drive a B model with a quad box hauling coal out of the strip mines around the Rayland, Ohio area for Chic Provenzano in Follansbee WV. Used to be a lot of heavy truck traffic across that bridge. It was skinny and tight in a truck and the metal grate floor made it slick on a motorcycle. One day some one put up a sign on the west virginia side that said " Ohio closed today"

  2. I was driving for Munson Transportation in 1990 and as I approached the GWB there was a fairly new Frieghtliner conventional with a reefer parked in a little pulloff just before the bridge. The left front tire was flat, it was the only wheel left on the tractor and trailer, also missing were the hood , the engine, the reefer unit and, of course ,the trailer was empty.

  3. I have two h-67's and one h-63 which is currently being made roadworthy. Out of all three I am still working diligently to come up with one running truck that is actually fit to drive. So I can understand Olivetroad getting so caught up in his H-67 that he forgot how to log on here. When he finally finds the nuts that hold the dog on the nose he will have reached a new level of awareness. If he's servicing the foot valve, it may be awhile.

  4. I too, got my WV commercial license from a cracker jacks box in 1973 when it cost 15 bucks to acquire so I could haul coal in a B-model and 28 foot dump trailer. But in 89 when the prospect of a trucking job was all I had going for me, and without recent experience, a school was the only way I could get hired. I've always felt that from the safety aspect alone, the school was worth it. That's my 2 cents, and though I don't make my living driving a truck, I just renewed my CDL and hazmat this year and as another poster mentioned, it gives you confidence in other areas in your life and no matter what size vehicle i'm driving, I have credentials to prove that I am a professional, and with that said, I expect that when any of you see me on the road, you will respectfully get out of my way.
