  1. Thanks for the reply. I have to remove the chamber to send it to a re-builder in Chicago. I cannot find a shop around here that will touch it nor a rebuider who has the parts to re-build. I have the spring bolt backed out which holds the spring in the off position as the air pressure does. Do you or anyone know where I can view an exploded view of the chamber and/or find the removal proceedure from the axel? Does anyone know of a place that may have a used chamber? Any help anyone can offer will be appreciated. Luigi Ph: ATT Cell Ph: 404-307-9052
  2. HOW DO I SAFELY REMOVE THE PARKING BRAKE AIR CHAMBER ON A 1983 MS200 MACK WITH AIR OVER HYD BRAKE SYSTEM.
  3. Have an air leak in the right side park brake chamber on my 1983 MS 200 with air over hydraulic brakes. Is there any saftey issues with the removal? There are DANGER warning stickers on the unit but I think with the spring bolt backed out there should not be any issue with the release of the spring. I have the spring bolt backed out on both chambers so the park brake will not engage. By leaving the parking brake lever in the "on" position it prevents air from getting to the chambers but oviously I don't have a parking brake. I found a place in Chicago who has some parts to rebuild it but I have to ship it to them. He quoted a price from $80 to $400 depending on what needs to be replaced. Apparently, these chambers have been discontinued for some time and if you can find NOS they want upwards of $2000 for them. I have had this truck for 17 years and it only has 157,000 miles on it. It was a former Pennzoil motor oil delivery truck with a 16 ft box and fold-a-way lift gate. It is the turbo diesel and runs great with the exception of this brake problem. It was based in Miami so there is virtually no rust on the chassis. I use it to haul my John Deere tractors to shows. Any help or advice anyone can give me will most appreciated. Big Louie
