Well men, after much deliberation........well not that much really. I think I am going to just shorten the F700 back to the factory wheelbase and let her ride. I appreciate all the advice I have been given, If it wasnt for yall I would have cost myself a lot of money buying frame rails and all kinds of stuff.

I thnk it is a factory double, the second piece is on the inside.

Wow, I really thought that F700 was toast!! I dont know that much about frames thats why I ask alot of questions. So, which one would ya'll fix, the F700, which has a substantial amount of rust in the cab and dents that must be fixed as well as parts being rather hard to find or,,,,, the superliner which needs frame rails. Would yall double rail the frame again or go back single rail with it.

I would have never though it would be cheaper to replace the frame rails then clean and go back together with them. When to say rerail it do you mean the entire frame rail or cut the frame off behind the cab and do what they did to the F700, just prettier?

I currently have a 73 F700 with a 864 Turbo V8 diesel and a bad frame. I am about to acquire a 87 Superliner that had an inline turbo diesel that was removed. I am thinking of putting the V8 from the F700 into the Superliner. Was wondering if anyone has done this and can give me some advice about what I am about to step into. The current V8 is not intercooled where the superliner was, is the intercooler from the superliner Inline 6 going to be large enough to feed the V8? and turbo placement, the inline 6 was of course on the side where as the V8 is at the rear of the engine. From what I understand some of the Supeliners came with V8's but am not sure.

The Superliner I plane on removing the rear axles, separating the frame, having it sandblasted, primered and painted then go back together. How do I get the top of the frame to lay back down after I clean the rust, dirt and junk out from in between them?

Which one the F700 or the Superliner? I didnt think the F700 would even pass inspection with the frame like that.

Here is the Superliner I have my eye on buying. The fella said he would let me have it for about 3000.00. It will need a pair of tires and brakes on the rear axle as well as a motor. I planned on putting the V8 out of the F700 into the Superliner. The guy I am getting off of said the mileage was about 190,000 and was correct. It has been a water hauling truck and that is what happened to the rear part of the frame, that is why he pulled the motor believing the frame was unfixable.

More Pictures of the F700. You can get a good look at their handy work on the frame and how they used a substantially taller piece of frame and welded up all the way around it. There are some large cracks at the front of the frame in front of the wheels about 9 to 14 inches in length. I didnt want to crawl underneath it to get those pictures.

Here are a couple of pics of the frame on the F700 that I am thinking of taking the motor out of and putting into the Superliner. This is what they did on both sides of the frame. I will post more pics of both the trucks.

I will post some pics of them both tomorrow so yall can get a better look. I am probably going to buy the superliner either way. I really think the frame is salvageable.

The old cab is kinda rough, not too bad. I though it was worth rebuilding anyways. Let me see what happens and I will get a hold of you. I think you and I have spoke on the phone before some time ago?

Its been awhile since I have last posted on here as I have been busy, busy, busy. Now that the summer is ending and winter is closing in I have more time on my hands again. I have a 79 F700 with the 864 V8 in it in front of 5 speed transmission. I had been planning to restore this truck but have run into a big problem. The frame that it sits on is bad, the former owner let someone that had no business working on a lawnmower attempt to stretch the frame on this truck. The fella got some frame work that was 2 inches taller than what was there and welded it up solid all the way around, down the flange and vertically up the side of the frame where it all met together. I was going to work on it with a grinder and eventually grind the welds down but, I had a welder friend of mine come over and look to give me a little advise. He got under the truck and found cracks in the frame stretching almost two feet in front of where they welded it together. The frame would have to be completely replaced for it to be safe to go down the road as it will more than likely keep cracking until it splits in half. This truck has less than 200,000 miles one it, they completely ruined this really neat truck being ignorant. I have however just run across an 87 Superliner that has no engine. It looks pretty nice from afar but when you get close you can see the problems it has. From the back of the cab to the rear of the truck it is double framed, this truck used to haul sale water through the oil fields here in New Mexico. The frame on it has no cracks but, is rusting to the point that the outer frame is becoming wavy and pushing away from the inner frame. I really think this truck can be saved but dont know how to go about it. I can pick it up really really really cheap and am thinking of putting the V8 out of the F700 into this superliner if the frame can be salvaged. It is not pitted bad, I was thinking that blocking the frame up, removing the axles and the disassembling the frame for sandblasting, what would I put on the frame to keep this from happening again? When I go back together with it how do I fix the outer frame from where it has become wavy and pushed away from the inner frame. Absolutely any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
