  1. HELLO ALL, I HAVE A COUPLE QUESTIONS AND HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP. FIRST OFF, I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 63 B 61SX I AM NOW IN SEARCH OF TIRES ALL AROUND. I DO KNOW THAT RETREADS ARE CONSIDERED TABOO IN SOME LOCATIONS BUT HERE IN TENNESSE I THINK YOU ARE RESTRICTED TO JUST NOT BEING ABLE TO RUN RECAPS AS STEER TIRES. I HAVE A TWIN SCREW AND LIKE MANY OF YOU OUT THERE , DON'T REALLY WANT TO THROW DOWN MAJOR DOUGH FOR ALL NEW TIRES. THIS TRUCKS MAIN PURPOSE WILL BE TO JUST RUN AROUND TOWN IN AND GO TO LOCAL CRUISE INS AND SHOWS. I AM GOING TO FIX IT UP BUT HAULING WILL ONLY CONSIST OF LITTLE STUFF (BICYCLES, CHAIRS, OLD FARM EQUIPMENT, ETC. ) THIS WILL NOT BE USED FOR OVER THE ROAD HAULING AND IS GOING TO BE TITLED A "FARM TRUCK". MY QUESTION IS , WHAT IS MY BEST OPTION ON TIRES. BUY NEW OR BUY RECAPS FOR THE REAR AND SPEND THE CASH ON THE STEER TIRES ?? I DON'T KNOW WHAT 10 BRAND NEW TIRES WOULD COST BUT I CAN IMAGINE IT IS A WAR PENSION FOR SOMEONE WHO IS NOT GOING TO MAKE MONEY WITH THEIR TRUCK. JUST A HOBBYIST , NOT A TRUCKER. IT HAS DECENT TIRES ON IT NOW BUT WON'T LAST TOO MUCH LONGER. WHAT DOES A NEW TIRE COST THESE DAYS ?? I WENT TO EBAY TO TRY TO SEARCH FOR 10 20'S BUT ONLY CAME UP WITH BIG WHEELS AND BIG TIRES FOR THE CUSTOM HIPPY HOPPY CARS, NO RIGS. I COULD THROW A SET OF GIAVANNI'S ON IT OR A SET OF DAYTON WIRES BUT I THINK THAT WOULD BE OVER THE TOP , ! ! ?? LOL LOL MY WHEELS AND TIRES ARE STOCK AND I THINK THAT THEY ARE 10 20'S. I SAY THINK BECAUSE MY TRUCK IS NOT RIGHT OUTSIDE , IT'S 10 MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND I HAVEN'T SEEN IT IN A COUPLE DAYS NOW. I HAVEN'T EVEN BEGUN TO START ON IT BUT I WANT TO KNOW WHAT I AM LOOKING AT IN TIRE COST BECAUSE THAT IS THE FIRST BIG DOLLAR ITEM ON IT. ALSO, WHAT IS THE TAKE ON UPGRADING TO 22.5 WHEELS AND TIRES. WILL THE 22.5 FIT A STOCK HUB OF A B-61SX ?? THAT , OR COURSE MEANS NEW WHEELS AND TIRES, WHEW , THAT IS MAJOR CHANGE ! !   2. THANKS GUYS, I THOUGHT THAT THERE WAS SOME KIND OF "VALVE" THAT BLEW OFF THE EXCESS. THAT IS WHY YOU HEAR THE "CHOO" NOISE WHEN YOU ARE SITTING BESIDE ON AT A LIGHT OR GOING DOWN THE ROAD. I DIDN'T KNOW THE NAME OF IT UNTIL NOW. I WILL CHECK IT FIRST THEN MOVE ONTO CHECKING OUT THE REST OF THE SYSTEM. I KNEW THIS WAS THE RIGHT SITE TO JOIN.   3. HELLO EVERYONE, I AM NEW TO THE SITE AND HAVE SOME QUESTIONS I HOPE SOMEONE CAN ANSWER. I JUST BOUGHT A 86' MACK MIDLINER MEDIUM DUTY SINGLE WHEEL RIG. IT HAS THE RENUALT TURBO DIESEL, SIBGLE 5 SPEED AND A DAY CAB. I BOUGHT IT WITH IT ALREADY HAVING BRAKE TROUBLE. IN FACT, IT HAS NO BRAKES WHATSOEVER. THE QUESTION IS, AIR OVER HYDRAULIC MEANS WHAT ?? THE PROBLEM WITH MINE IS THERE IS A POD MISSING ON THE PASSENGER REAR WHEEL. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS JUST A PARKING BRAKE AND IF I BLOCK THE AIR LINE GOING TO IT AND SCREW IT DOWN I CAN STILL DRIVE THE RIG I JUST WON'T HAVE A PARKING BRAKE. HERE IS WHERE I AM AT RIGHT NOW. I TOOK A SHOP AIR COMPRESSOR AND FILLED THE AIR TANKS UNDER THE DRIVERS DOOR. ONCE THEY GET A GOOD AMOUNT OF PRESSURE BUILT UP THE LINE THAT GOES TO THE POD STARTS LEAKING. I HAVE FOUND THAT MUCH OUT. BUT THEN HERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE. THE COMPRESSOR FOR THE TRUCK DOESN'T SEEM TO BE WORKING EITHER. I PULLED THE HEAD AND INSPECTED WHAT I COULD OF IT. THE REED VALVE, OR AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TO ME, SEEMS TO BE FINE WITH NO RESTRICTIONS FROM WHAT I CAN TELL. WHEN RUNNING THE TRUCK DOESN'T SEEM TO BUILD PRESSURE TO RELEASE THE ONE POD THAT IS STILL FUNCTIONAL IN THE REAR. I BASICALLY AM AT A STOPPING POINT BECAUSE I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE AIR OVER HYDRO SYSTEM. IN SHORT, NO BRAKES, ONE MISSING POD ON THE REAR, COMPRESSOR THAT RUNS BUT DOESN'T BUILD PRESSURE, AND NO HELP FROM THE LOCAL "MECHANICS" SO FAR. PLEASE ASSIST OR STEER ME TOWARD A POSSIBLE HITCH IN MY GIDDY UP ! ! IS THERE A CHECK VALVE OR SOMETHING THAT IS OPEN IN THE SYSTEM THAT I AM MISSING ? ?   4. THANKS FOR THE RESPONSES. I DONE INVESTIGATING INTO WHAT YOU BOTH SAID. 2 900 CC BATTERIES IS EXACTLY WHAT THE LOCAL BIG TRUCK BATTERY PLACE SAID. SO THAT IS WHAT I AM GOING TO END UP GETTING. ON THIS SWITCH. MY TRUCK ONLY HAS ONE SEAT IN IT BECAUSE I THINK IT WAS A ONE MAN DUMP TRUCK OR A MIXER TRUCK. TITLE SAYS B-61SX ?? I AM A VIRGIN B OWNER SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE "SX" STANDS FOR BUT THE CAB IS CONCAVED IN THE BACK AND IT IS A TWIN SCREW SO THAT WOULD LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THAT IT WAS A HEAVY HAULER WHATEVER IT WAS USED FOR. THE CONVERTER SWITCH MUST HAVE BEEN HID OR SOMETHING CAUSE I CAN'T FIND ONE, LOL LOL THE ONLY SEAT IS THE DRIVERS SEAT AND THERE IS NOTHING UNDER IT. MY WITCH HUNT WILL CONTINUE FOR NEW AND EXCITING PROBLEMS. ONCE I GET IT IN THE YARD EXPECT THE BOARD TO BE LIT UP WITH QUESTIONS. THIS SITE IS NOW CONSIDERED SITE #1 FOR ME DUE TO THE MACK BEING A UNICORN AROUND HERE. APPARENTLY PENNSYLVANIA IS THE HOT BED FOR THESE TRUCKS. IF YOU EVER GET THE CHANCE TO BUY A MACK B MODEL AND DO, DON'T EVER THINK OF LETTING IT OUT OF YOUR HANDS, LOL I DID HAVE ONE OFFER ON IT FROM A MEMBER BUT I AM HESITANT. I DID FIND THE "FOR SALE" FORUM. IT WOULD HAVE BIT ME HAD IT BEEN A SNAKE, LOL MY STORY GOES A LITTLE DEEPEER THAN JUST FINDING A MACK AND BUYING IT THOUGH. SINCE I THINK THAT THIS IS THE FORUM FOR IT I WILL EXPLAIN. MY GRANDFATHER, FATHER, UNCLE, SEVERAL COUSINS AND EVEN A COUPLE IN LAWS ALL DRIVE OR HAVE DRIVEN IF NOT ALL OF THEIR LIVES, AT LEAST A GOOD DEAL. THE BIGGEST MILEAGE TOTALLERS WOULD BE MY GRANDFATHER AND FATHER. MY FATHER DROVE 30 YEARS FOR U.P.S AND RETIRED BACK IN 2000. HE MADE USA TODAY 5 TIMES FOR THE TOP 100 SAFE DRIVERS IN THE WORLD THAT DROVE FOR U.P.S. 30 YEARS ACCIDENT FREE. AND MOST OF THAT WAS DONE IN A MACK. AFTER FILING THROUGH SEVERAL INTERNATIONAL, FREIGHTLINERS, KENWORTH, PETES, AND OTHER VARIOUS SMALL TIME RIGS, WE CAME TO A PICTURE OF GRANDPAW LEANING AGAINST THE NOSE OF A BIG OL TRUCK WITH A CHROME BULLDOG ON THE HOOD. MY FIRST REACTION WAS "WHAT TRUCK IS THAT" ?? WELL, NOT REMEMBERING EXACTLY WHAT TRUCK IT WAS, MY GRANDMAW YELLED FOR GRANDPAW TO COME TELL ME WHAT IT WAS. OF COURSE IT TOOK ONLY A MILISECOND FOR HIM TO TELL ME THAT WAS A B 61 MACK. THE ONLY THING I HEARD WAS B61. THAT STUCK. AND I MEAN FOREVER STUCK IN MY MIND ALL THE WAY THROUGH MY YEARS. SUCH A SMOOTH CAB, ROUNDED OFF NOSE AND FRONT CAP. THE SIZE OF IT EVEN NOW JUST KNOCKS ME BACK. IT MAY NOT BE THE FASTEST, THE STRONGEST, THE TOP OF THE TOP, BUT MAN , GET IT ONE AND GO DOWN THE ROAD.   6. HELLO. AS YOU ALL KNOW I AM NEW TO THIS SITE AND I AM A PROUD NEW OWNER OF A B61 63' MODEL. I HAVE A COUPLE BURNING QUESTIONS BUT I WILL ADDRESS ONLY ONE HERE. UPON BUYING MY B MODEL THE BATTERIES THAT I GOT WITH IT WERE D4 BATTERIES. TOO WIDE FOR THE BATTERY BOXES THAT HOLD THE FACTORY BATTERIES. WELL WHEN I TRIED TO START IT UP TODAY I FOUND THAT THOSE BATTERIES ARE NOW DEAD AND ARE READY FOR THE SCRAPPER. HERE IS THE QUESTION. WHAT BATTERY IS CONSIDERED STOCK AND WHERE CAN I GET 2 OF THEM. A FRIEND THAT OWNS ONE USES 2 1200 CRANKING AMP DEKA BATTERIES AND I NEED TO KNOW IF THAT IS GOOD ENOUGH OR DO I NEED TO BE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING ELSE. I DON'T REALLY CARE IF THEY ARE THE FACTORY ONES AND IF I CAN GO BUY SOMETHING THAT WILL WORK AT WAL MART I WILL BE HAPPY. THE OTHER PART TO THAT QUESTION IS THE 6 VOLT 12 VOLT DIFFERENCE. I WAS ASSUMING THAT MY WIRING SYSTEM WAS 12 VOLT DUE TO THE BATTERIES AND THE WAY THEY ARE WIRED UP. THE D4 BATTERIES THAT WERE ON IT WERE WIRED SO THAT IT LOOKED LIKE A 12 VOLT SYSTEM, BUT I HAVE SEEN ON HERE ABOUT 6 VOLT SYSTEMS. HONESTLY, I AM LOST AND NEED ANY RESPONSES I CAN. IF YOU ANYONE CAN OFFER ANY HELP PLEASE EMAIL ME AND TELL ME WHAT TO LOOK FOR BATTERY WISE AND IF MY SYSTEM HAS BEEN REWIRED FOR 12 VOLT.   7. HELLO, MY NAME IS MARCEL AND I JUST GOT REGISTERED. I HAVE OWNED A 1963 MACK B 61 FOR AROUND 6 MONTHS. I BOUGHT IT WITH A 1946 ROGERS LOW BOY EQUIPMENT TRAILER. I AM IN THE POSITION TO SELL IT BUT HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO GO TO POST THAT ON THIS SITE.
