  1. Sorry to hear about all the BS. That is the catch with trying to use a "newer" truck, as it falls under all that crap. I had "truck" plates on mine the first year I had it, including IFTA, but quickly ditched it all for Historical tags to eliminate the hassles. Eight years so far with only ONE stop/question by scalemaster. I don't even stop at scales now since they changed the signs to "commercial trucks only", instead of "all trucks".

Start looking for "pre 84" truck and try again.

    Hey Larry

Even with historical tags and a free pass go passed the scales... Do you still have to fill out a pretrip or posttrip form on the days you use your truck?

  2. Welcome to the forum Greenville Your handle is a lil long, so I dub thee The Greenville H

Don't let the old fella catch you parking it on it nose like you did in that second pic LOL

The truck seems to be comin along nicely. Your Dad must be very proud. Nice work

  3. Looks pretty good Glenn. You'd be surprised what a few days of washing and cleaning will do for the ol dawg. I've got a nice muffler/pipe with guard sitting in the back to take care of the straight pipe for ya! I ran it one summer, the the twins on mine and it's been sitting there since. I've got some Bostom T bar seat parts sitting here too. I have a couple nice passenger seats too! Bet yours still has the series/parrallel switch under the passenger seat? I have my cover for it, really nice too, as I dont need it anymore.

That front spring will need fixed up before it gets on the road. I have my drivers side getting separated like yours, but it hasn't blow the U bolts, yet.

You know what ??? Talkin about see.. Ever since I visited Jim and sat in the driver's seat of himtruck.. Wow !!! I'd like to fit my truck with a set of 95 Jeep seats LOL

Thanks for the offer Larry I really appreciate that. I luv it how everybody helps out everybody here.. Hopefully I'll be able to do the same for you guys.

  4. Global positioning system navigation devices, handheld communication and similar prescribed devices, commercially-used logistical transportation tracking systems, collision avoidance systems and instruments, gauges and systems providing information regarding the status of systems of the motor vehicle are exempted from the regulation. Drivers who are caught violating the rule can face fines of up to $500 upon conviction.

Apparently operators of commercial vehicles have 3 yrs to comply

  5. Well I feel like we're making progress now. The sandblasting is all done and the chassis is painted. We used Magnet brand Chassis Saver paint. http://www.magnetpaints.com/underbody.asp I've never used POR paint but I think this stuff is similar. It's a little different than regular paint to work with but it's as tough as nails. Once it's cured you can barely scratch it.

We're finally getting back to working on the Mack. We went to a wrecking yard and got some seats and a console from a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee. As you can see from the first picture the size is similar to the Mack seat. We had to build pedestals to raise everything to the proper height. We were able to adapt the automatic shifter from the bus into the console, it'll look fine once we make a bezel for it.

We also installed a new radio with a GPS, Bluetooth and satellite radio. We wanted to mount it a bit higher but the motor from the electric wipers was in the way. Soon we'll be able to start on the paint and body work.

I'm back from visiting Jim's shop. Didn't get to meet Winston or Ruby but I did get to see his truck up close.

I have to tell yeah.. pictures don't do it Justis... After the frame got sandblasted and painted. All I can say is INCREDIBLE FINISH The frame is Smooth and shiny. Looks great. and while I was there. I got to sit in the new driver's seat. Those Jeep seats are gonna be perfect in the truck.

Thanks for the hospitality Jim. I luv'd the tour of your shop. Your livin the dream man. You guys have built an great facility there.

  6. Yeah... I have to agree with Mike.

Some how over the years the "B" in B61 on the ownership got changed to a "P"

Not a problem... All I need is a letter, with a Mack Dealership letter head stating that it is infact a "B" and could not possibly be a "P" and the Ministry of curbs and pot hole with correct the ownership.

I just had the same thing done to my 57 Chev truck... When I bought it.. The ownership said it was a 57 GMC. It wasn't.. It was a Chevy truck.

Got a letter from the chev dealership, short story short. bada bing bada boom ownership fixed :thumb:

  7. It looks to me like your engine is either a 673 P, or a 711, judging by the split intake. like Freightrain says, the serial number may not tell the whole story. There is also some meaning to the letters following the first letters in your serial number. For example an S indicates a tandem drive, an L indicates Lightweight components, an X indicates an extra heavy duty chassis and so on. What is your serial number ? Steve.

I haven't got that information yet... Hoping to get down there either this weekend or in 2 weeks from today.

I want to get the numbers off the drivers door and off the chassis. Possibly off of the engine too.

I also want to find out if my transmission housing is aluminum too.

I'll take my camera again and get some more detailed pictures.

This will probably be the last time I'll see it until I take delivery of it in the spring.

The chassis numbers are just under the back of the cab? right side (passenger side)?? rite?

  8. Is there a way to identify which B model a truck is without the ownership/title in your hand.

Until I get the ownership in my hands, the only thing I know about my truck is, It's a 1957. It has the Triplex 15 speed trani with the PTO and it's a diesel w/single drive axle.

Is there a site that I can input my serial numbers and get a break down of the trucks option?

Or identify the proper B model number ?
