  3. O.k. sounds good. Now how do i find the center of crank to place my indicator? If i use a magnetic base on the back of the crank how do i know if i am truly center of crank. Do they make a speacial tool or bushing. thanks
  4. Akron ohio, outside edge of the lake effect, snow is always a guess, could get 1 inch could get 20, depends on the lake.
  5. I will get you picks as soon as the snow quits flying. I cant thank you enough for all the info. jared
  6. I asked this in another topic, not sure if you posted or not, but since you have one. will this trans hold up to a 675 motor with a single disk clutch?
  7. do i have to bolt the bell housing first then drill? is it possible to have pins machined so that they are tight in the block(on size) and a different size in the bell housing? I used to be in the machine shop trade so i do have the ability. Now if this is not a good idea feel free to say. I just hate to drill and ream if i can get around it. Thanks again for all the help.
  8. Thanks alot, very good info, now, i had heard that some ran a 361 and some the 407, how will i tell them apart, was there a hp difference? Also, not sure if i need a winch yet, i want to get the thing home, service and check it out. I want to make sure its sound before i put any add ons into it. Thanks again!
  9. terry, yes, the reason is the 675 was mated to a 5 speed transmission, this bellhousing is totaly different than my trans ( i want to keep). My transmission is a quadbox, duplex or triplex ( not sure how to tell), it runs a single disk clutch, the 5 speed bell housing is deeper (to accept a 2 disk clutch)and the bolts are actually differnt size to. Side not: my trans has 1-5 plus reverse on one stick (closest to leg) the other stick has lo-lo, lo, and direct on the other stick ( farthest from you). thanks aga
  10. I just got a international td15b. Actualy i have not picked it up yet, i just want to get some advice for this weekend when i do. Were are the key serial numbers located for tracing year and engine size. I was also wondering if these were good dozers and anything (weak points, maintence issues etc.) that i should look and watch for. I currently have a td8e and i like it alot. I want to start with that, then lead up to parts and repair questions later. Thanks
  11. Alright guys you helped me out before and now i have another question for the pros. I am doing a 68 DM600, pulled out my 673e and installing a 675, i am keeping my quad box trans so i have to keep my old bell housing. Question is the dowl pins that would center my bell housing have slop in them. I have heard that you are supposed to install it and put a dial indicator on the crank to make sure it is centered, then just tighted the bolts. In my mind doing this would work but wouldnt this put all the stress on just the torq of the bell housing bolts, dont you need the dowls to actualy support and keep the motor from shifting? As always any input would be great and if you need more info let me know. Thanks
  12. Thanks alot guys. I have recieved tons of advice across the board. I think i will try it, I plan on putting a new clutch in anyway and i will be the only one driving it. Thanks and this is a great forum!!
  13. Hello, I am new here and love the site. I have a 68 DM600, I am replacing the 673 nonturbo motor with a 675 turboed out of a U model. I want to keep my quad box trans. To do this i have to keep my 673 bell housing and flywheel, question is, the 673 ran a single disk clutch, the 675 ran a 2 disk clutch with the 5 speed. Will a single disk clutch hold the torque and horsepower of the 675, and will the quad box handle the added power. Any info would be helpful. Thanks
  14. i am new to site and so far it is great. i have some questions about turning up the pump on a natural 673e motor. if i am in the right area i will proceed, if not please tell me where to ask. thanks
