  1. hello, picked up a 76 transtar 4200, need a little help. someone pulled the front brakes off and i have no idea what axle i have, the drums and backing plates are still there, this truck has speedo in front axle backing plate. im looking for shoes,s cams, s cam tubs etc. I dont know if IH has a archive, historical or vintage division. Most dealers i have called as soon as you say "76 transtar" they loose interest. So if any one knows of a good dealer it would be great. The specs are, date 4-30-76-1, F4270, serial D2157FGA15301, 228 wb. I live near akron ohio so anyone with local parts or info would be great. Talked to one fella on redpower and he seemed to think the axle was a FA-329 dont really know what that get me. Also looking for a dashlight dimmer dial. any and all help would be greatly appreciated. will try to post pics. thanks again

  2. Ok. looked at the map your right on about 6 hr. it is very realistic to get . if you would mind email me i would like to talk on phone if possible. Just to let you know i am not an exporter i actually hate seeing good AMERICAN iron go over seas. thanks again for your time. Jared

  3. Does any one have, want to sell, know where to get a sun visor and bug sheild for a 68 dm 600. dont know much about them, how to mount, etc.. Our R model has both and i really like the look. I am going to paint our dm this winter so i thought i would see if anyone had one, doesnt need to be pretty since im painting. thanks everyone.

  4. has anyone on this site ever did a inframe on an international td 15 with a dt361. i need to know how to get the sleeves out? The sleeves are a dry sleeve and considered a heavy press fit. i have no idea how to get them out or back in. I have a manual puller on them now with a hydrulic jack underneath and have barly moved it. I have posted all my question on red power forum in the engine and construction forums. I have gotten some good advice but no good answer to how to actualy acheive my goal. if someone has done this inframe before and can offer some advice i would love it. Also i live in north east ohio area, i would be willing pay an expert if anyone knows someone. the reason i am posting here is i was told macks had dry sleeves to. thanks

HEY HAVENT HEARD FROM YOU ,,,WONDERING HOW THE 15 GOES, OR DID YOU GET INTO MORE THAN YOU EXPECTED OR HOPEFULLY YOU GOT WORK COMING IN

    GG2

here is the new scoop, finally got the 68 dm 600 back on the road, the 237 runs awsome in the old girl. lot more power than the old 673 natural that was in there. the jake on it is sweet. Now for the 15, finally got it in the shop. All looks pretty good, took me a whole day to pressure wash it down, it was DIRTY. the few problems that i have to address first are a good fuel leak coming from around the secondary filter. i pulled it tonight and it seems to be a bad line but there is a braze on the can, may be that. the next issue is a good hydrulic leak. the leak is coming out of the top of the trans where the shuttle lever goes in. i know it is a terrible discription. i'm still trying to round up manuals so i can determine if its a seal or an o ring, hope its not too big of deal. the last bigger problem is the left steering clutch seems to be sticking or not engaging, not sure if its ajustment, seized or worn out. the manual will be a big help. Work has picked up and i spent most of my money on the mack so i guess i got to get back to work. right now septics and drive ways are big. still have some service to do on equipment to. so thats the scoop. Hope all is going good your way, give me a update. still need to give you a call. thanks jared

  7. I removed a end673e motor (natural asperated) from my '68 dm 600. I had planned on sitting it on the shelf and saving it for something (dont know what). It ran good, no blow by, had a couple oil leaks. A local neigbor asked if i wanted to sell it. I dont have any idea on a value. Any input would be great. Thanks

  8. got the info your lookin for on how to tell years. call me 716 432 4267 evenings good

    Don smith

havent checked forum in a few days, so i'll give you a call here soon. The deer in the back is a 4020 gas. thanks

  9. Guess I should have mentioned that I have them in stock and will sell 1 at a time! LOL

If you change the housing to the rubber seal style and still have the crankshaft oil slinger in place...it will never leak! The lead seal is good for longevity but it is a bitch to change the lead seal. The rubber is a better choice for ease of use.

    Here's the whole kit:

    Replacement Lead Seal:

i need to chime in here. I am in the process of converting from the lead seal to the rubber seal. The problem is that the new housing mack gives you, requires you to cut the slinger off. The housing WILL NOT go on with out cutting it off. My question is how do i cut this off without getting crap in the pan. I thought the slinger was pressed on and here it is part of the crank. My local Mack dealer failed to mention that i had to do all the cutting. Any suggestions??? I am ready to return the parts and just get the lead seal. Help.

  10. Hey how goes the search, any luck.

    GG2

Now we are getting in pretty good shape. I cant do any more on it until i get into the main shop but i have a good amount of info piled. The seals are in for the mack so have to get back on that.

  11. I have an 84 E 6 engine in a 1960 B61 , an older crank was installed that required the old lead rope seal , anyone out there that is familar with this and where to get new seal ?

dont know if you got a good answer, or found your info yet but i am currently dealing with the same situation. My local mack dealer, R&R mack in ohio could get the lead for around 7 bucks, i chose to convert it to the new style rubber seal. The deal price for conversion ( buying new housing and seal) was around 200 buck. If you need more infor let me know. good luck

  12. any luck yet finding a serial # on the machine

    GG2

Couple of guys on redpower forum have given me a close year, the engine number ( td 15b pm 7514) says that it is a 1964, Rocko (Russ) thinks it may be a little newer, i am starting to think the guy hilljacked some things on it, its not in the main work shop yet, just in a shed, but we took all the hood and side sheilds off. Evedently the guy did not believe in washing equipment, ever, this thing has more grease and dirt on it. I have never seen a machine so dirty. There is problably some more number under all the grease. I started to do a filter search like you recomended (simple good idea). So i thought lets start with the air. Well guess what, no air filter. If you run a machine without an air filter, what other stupid stuff did he do? So thats were i am at. I still see alot good with the machine though, nothing major seems to be wrong yet. Now i need manuals, would like to get a parts manual and service manual for a 15b. got any ideas? thanks

  13. gooooooood deal one new track or 2 new tracks, hows the skin on the blade look, should be 10'6" semi u blade........had a 20b that i bought years ago for 3601.99 sealed bid with new bottom, sold it for 11,000 1 year later to buy my tag trailer, was a nice machine,,,,, make sure you get a nice chrome stack on it........

    GG2

yes got both new tracks, blade, cutting edge all great, could use one new sproket, got any?

  14. hard to say was thinkin first that its an later 15b,but lookin at the dash ,looks like my old TD-9 SERIES B. nice lookin tracks,no rops easier to get under low places. what peeks my interest is on the right side u have a cover that covers the hyd. lines on the floor plate. dont understand why ,my machine had them there for the winch hyd lines from the engine mounted pump. the throttle handle is very simalar to my old 9,dash and all. i want to say that it is an older model. you may be able to look at the injector pump and get #s of and look up what that pump fit on also. so did you get it for a steal???????????? look good to run

    GreenGiant2

traded a semi and lowboy and 1000. Had 5300 in semi and lowboy. So 6300. I did get a rops for it and it does have the new track. was it a fair deal???

  15. Got the 15 home and washed (round one of many). The serial tag plate is missing from the dozer. I am trying to find out what year it might be and motor ( i know its a 407 or 361). I found a number stamped on the left side of the block, under the intake. # TD15B PM 7514 , does this mean anything in helping to identify what i have any input would be great. thanks

  16. Been gettin itchy waiting to find more about the 15b, get it home yet.

    GreenGiant2

yup, got it home last friday. it started snowing as we pulled in and hasnt stopped. I havent had a chance to even unload it, i am really wanting to get it into the shop, just needs to quit snowing for a few days. love the money but the snow is getting old!!!!!

  17. was wrong, didnt have to plow but still cold enough to hibernate in the shop and work on stuff before spring is here. i can here that sweet sound of a TD-15 with a straight pipe out pushin hard, loved that sound byt couldnt hear after wards.the guy that bought my 15 has a cable control unit and a pull pan that is usable.

    Green Giant2

only one guy i know has a brockway and i am not sure of the motor. i know he speaks highly of it though. as of now the pickup date for the 15 is on friday. i will give ya the low down once its home, then tell ya what i paid, let me know if it was a good deal. i know it has brand new tracks ( so new one is not even on). is the guy selling the pan? had one more question you listed all your equipment, what is your main line of work? also it says you have a dm 690, what motor, trans etc.. ours is a dm 600

  18. MDI/yutani same as kobelco ,just different paint 2 buckets and manual thumb 6100 hours good machine just time to go bigger and newer... do you own all your stuff or work for someone

    Green Giant2

Own it, i am the owner, laborer, mechanic, book keeper and all around HMF, i guess. Heres the short story. I tried to get into the operating engineers at age 20 with no luck. My first buy was a bobcat and started doing landscaping ( installs only, no mowing). As time moved on i got more and more equipment and now we do mostly excavation. I am not a big company by far, i problably have more equipment than needed. We do septics, some site prep, residental and commercial, we have dug a few ponds and do some home addition projects with fondations etc. Any more though i do any thing to make a buck, gotta pay bills. Oddly enough i never worked for a construction company. I grew up on a farm (small dairy) and figured how hard could it be. Now i'm 35 and after tons of mistakes i find i'm still learnig. hay, whats your story, got any good or magical advise? Always looking to learn!
