I'm putting together a project [abortion] that I need a trans for. The engine is a 2-71 detroit,the truck a '50 ford F-5. This will be for parade use and occassional deliveries;very light loads. I want a lot of gears,the engine has a Cat. 2 bellhousing. Did MACK make a multi geared trans for their smaller gas burners? I have a chance to buy a 2000 bering with a 23k rating that has a dualtech roll back body.It has 147k,but the trans and rear both have problems. I can buy it right but will it be a money pit? What automatic do they use? what cummins is it? Anyone have real world experience usiing them?
