  1. - Geoff Weeks Thank you for the explanation and drawing deffinetly very very helpful - Thank you vladislav i will continue on my search and reserach on the thermostat. I got the b43 from the chassis number. Also called the guy who I bought it from he confessed and told me that it was a b43. Sadly most of the idetifying plates of the truck is gone. I will se what is what as i progress true the restoration. - doubleclutchinweasel Thanks for the info lets hope I have the overdrive gears since i will be driving on highways alot and need to drive it from my work to back home which is about 50 miles there 50 miles back (80km there 80km back)
  2. Thank you very much clearly i need to do my homework on the thermostats. Hopefully will find the right one. Also thanks for the info on the fan blades too.
  3. Geoff weeks sorry missed your message. My housing looks like it was ment for a thermostat like that. But still asking around shops that work on the renaults to see if i can find a good match for mine
  4. So a funny little update. You guys remember how i wanted a 20 speed on my truck and i might be wrong please correct me if I am. Took out the transmission today it turns out i actually have a 20 speed on it but the Lo-Lo and Lo-Split being stuck shot and the plate saying its a 9 speed. I remember someone actually telling me that i might have one on it with the wrong plate. I will share the photos i took it might be my lack of experience making me think i have a 20 speed. Another update on the truck The guy selling it to me instead that its a b85 but it is not its a b43 dont really change much for me and i was very suspicious of it being a b85 since I couldnt find any b85 with its configuration. Another question and maybe i should start a new post since this one is getting old but. The radiator fan is very oddly shaped distance between blades are different is there a reason for this or do i just have a terribly built fan. I will also uplod photos of it
  5. - Mrsmackpaul thank you for the tips next time im doing aluminum welding i will make sure to follow these instructions. - vladislav this is amazing thank you very much. Yes this is the type of thermostat i need its great to have photos of it will make finding one much much much easier
  6. Thank you very much vladislav very helpful piece of information hopefully the renault ones will fit on it since they are more common in Turkey. If you are going to see a mack or any other cool truck in turkey there is a 90% chance it will be parked in front of a gas station or a restaurant as decoration. In some cases they just turn a semi trailer to a kebab restaurant park the truck in front of the trailer and sell food from it. That was the case with my truck.
  7. Thank you all for the very helpful answers yes the water manifold is in the process of being removed. The whole shutter mechanism is also removed for maintenance because it wouldn’t close them they were stuck open. Other than the thermostat i dont have any missing parts on it. And the reason for corrosion i belive is the sheer amount of time this truck spent not moving at all. It was used as a decortion infront of a kebeb restaurant with 0 maintenance. im running true the airport sorry if i missed any questions or answers
  8. Thank you Geoff Weeks good to know i will get back in to my search for a thermostat
  9. Also my truck has radiator shutters is it possible that it never had a thermostat and relied on the shutters for warming up
  10. Here is a little update. Manifold was cracked and welders I asked said they don’t want to touch it but found someone who told me they can take care of it make it like new. I didnt try to weld it my self im not a good welder I would trust a piece of gum before i trust my welds hahahah. Now all I need is the thermostat previous owner removed it and never put in a new one. Do you guys know if there are compatible thermostats from different trucks. Also right now its almost impossible to import something from Russia to Turkey. In general Turkish customs is hell there is just insane tax and nonsense rules. But most parts I can import its expensive but not impossible.
  11. Thank you Vladsilav. Here is a photo of it I hope this type of manifold is what you are talking about. I havent had any luck yet but good to know other macks used this part. Sorry for my late reply I didnt know these chats had a 2nd page just found out. - Mowerman if you know anyone that sells used b series parts would be a great help I havent had any luck yet. - mrsmackpaul Yeah after talking with people on this forum ı came to the same conclusion. Im going to drive the 9 speed and see if it meets my expectations
  12. Thank you very much. I feel very lucky to have my truck engine seems to be in good shape just need to find a new water manifold. Found a 2023 list of part sellers trying to see if anyone on the list has one in decent shape
  13. That makes me feel much better about learning how to shift it correctly. I havent taken mine out yet but knowing that it will likely be a easy fix is a grate. Thank you.
  14. Thank you everyone for all these answers I’m getting. They are incredibly helpful and can’t stress enough how much I appreciate these information and you guyses patience with me. - Thank you Steve s. I was afraid doing 5 lo would damage it but happy that’s not the case. - 67RModel thanks for the ratio chart, it’s very helpful and yes I can see why some gears don’t make practical sense - Brocky yeah wont tow anything too heavy maybe some ATCs and ATVs a load that is meaningless for truck like this the main use of this truck will be good times you know cruising down the highway going 40-50 mph and listening to blue grass and country music so i think you and other are right this 9 speed will be plenty of fun for me - Freightrain That is an absolutely beautiful truck. I’m sure I’m going to have several months of grinding gears until I can actually start driving it daily. I have driven a 1928 Cadillac that required double clutching but I’m sure that Cadillac was a child’s play compared to these trucks - Vladislav Thanks for the information here and your other replies to my other post you are always very helpful. Yeah sadly I don’t carry that American gene that allows them to effortlessly do that. I’m sure I will be grinding the those gears like crazy until I learn how to do it. I’m on a business trip but when I’m back I will provide you with those photos and numbers you asked for. Also of course I’m not going to change those wheels or anything on it. I will even get the vipers to work with air again if I can find the part. It will be restored as originally as it could possibly be done no modern parts to make it easy to use or so called more reliable, whatever Mack did in 1956 I will do it the same. - Mattb73lt Thank you this was the prefect answer to the question I have alot to learn and research. The shift pattern shown on the plate matches the way sticks move but i dont know if its factory original. Also yes this forum is a life saver just full of amazing very knowledgeable people like yourself. I have asked 2 questions on the forum and can’t stress enough how educational reading the answers were to me. - Mowerman After reading all the answers I got I also think the 9 speed will provide me with plenty of shifting. Also thanks for understanding my point of view. Once again thank you all for your very helpful answers you all are life savers. I will most definitely be back with more questions and more information on my truck and its parts. If I missed any of your point or questions please let me know.
