my fuel gauage dropped to empty then shot back up to full then stopped working. i checked the connectors and cleaned them gauge still dont work. any ideas on what could of happened?

thankyou for the advise put the new speed sensor in and the light went off and all power came back. -
i have changed the speed sensor and the crank sensor. unhooked batties still has light on checked for code came up still 4 1. truck has no power and isnt spooling up. any ideas of what i can try next?
