  1. I've recently purchased a 1986 Mack ms series and am looking to learn more about which exactly is the one I got. And some more info about the clutch and transmission. I'll start with it has full air brake system. Small leak in the foot air valve near front driver steer tire and little leak in rear splitter valve above and Infront of rear differential. Still builds 130psi while accelerating. Anyhow it has a 10speed splitter style transmission on the 165hp motor. I didn't know not to push to clutch to the floor while moving and in gear and am wondering how to tell if I broke my clutch brake tabs. Is this a double wheel clutch or single? Here are photos of the trucks engine stamp. The truck has a light squeal coming from clutch into transmission area and the squeal stops when I push the clutch in halfway. Is my clutch needing lubrication or adjustment for that squeal? Thanks guys
  2. I recently purchased an old Mack 1986 ms series I believe it's a 250 with full air system. I'm new to the big truck world but I do own a 1st gen Cummins for about 5 years so I've had to learn a lot about diesel work to keep that Cummins going. Though it does just want to keep running!😂 The Renault I have and will include photos is only the 165hp or 175hp version. This and more info I'm looking to figure out about my new Mack from this forum. The Mack has the 10speed splitter style trans. That has spicer stamped on the side. It also is a dump with a Chelsea pto system. Bought the truck for 2000 bucks it started and ran. But needed all new fluids and filters and the clutch linkage adjusted to catch the gears again. Previous owner could not figure out clutch linkage to get anything but reverse. It wasn't to hard. Real bad rusted out roof... My head and valve cover is all one unit not the ms 300 series individual valve cover units. I'm a certified arborist and excavator operator for my own business. Here in Maui Hawaii
  3. Aloha to all Mack truck users Just bought myself a 1986 Mack ms series. Has a 10speed splitter style on the 165hp I believe or 175 hp Renault motor. 79k miles not many this truck is here in Hawaii Maui. Island wide distances Not much use for a year and half before I purchased. Wondering what kind of transmission I have in here. It says spicer on it...stamped in the metal... Truck has a light squeal coming from transmission that goes away when I press the clutch halfway or so. This is from neutral idling. Could this be a Renault bdsl2052r 10speed This is my first big truck purchase for help with some work I do hopefully... Ive owned a 1st gen Cummins for 5 years. That helped with some diesel stuff on basic maintenance. That being said it has a dump also a Chelsea pto style. Can't figure out the knobs 😂 The one round knob doesn't seem to work.
